Playing .avi Files?

I'm having problems playing .avi files. I have tried WMP which was configured to auto download codecs and it didn't work. I tried Realplayer, and it doesn't work. aNy suggestions for a program that can open almost all video files? i'm not sure of they are all mislabeled as .avi's or if I am missing something.

yes ...you are lacking codecs....go to the pinned area in the development section of this forum and get the k-lite codec pack...that should solve all your problems
