You can't alter that.

What would you be accomplishing by doing that?

It's not nice to lie to your computer.

and beside , if there is a way, u think ppl would go and buy a 9800pro if they could lie to their comp and say that their cheap 9000 is a 9800 pro? come on people, lets review that word "common sense" we've been hearing about

What the hell would the point of that be..maybe he thinks that your computer takes the name of the card and makes it perform that good.

lol well i did find a program but it only does it for APPZ so u have to find the .exe file and then it makes the program think tht i have a GEFORCE TI4600 lol!
(i use tht to play HALO) :D (no lag)

but i wanted to change it so tht the whole computer thinks tht i have a really good video card so i can play NFS underground....i tried using the program for tht program but it doesnt work cause i think it has like dll file or sumthin which detects the video card but i dunt noe which one...

my video card is capable of handling nfs underground but cause of the crappy company (SiS) it does not work.

btw i have SiS 315 it is faster than Geforce 2
my friend has GEFORCE 2 and he can play NFS underground no problem! <_<

it was worth a try askin u guys
i guess i start askin my parents if they can buy me a 128mb GeForce Fx5200 or a ATI radeon 9200SE

i can get em for like a 100$ CDN ;)

but i made a really n00by mistake by buying my 64mb SiS 315 <_< couple of months ago :( only if i could sell it...for 50$CDN lol not on EBAY!

EDIT: my crappy video card >> http://www.hardsalon.com/article/videocard/sis315fsaa/pic/ag315_front.jpg

and i noe changing the Vendor ID and Device ID does NOT make the card performance better :P

I can get a 9200SE for 80 bucks here in Halifax,Nova Scotia. Not sure what the shipping would be to where you are but it may be worth your while to get one here.

i live in TORONTO :D

in summer i saw a GeForce Fx 5200 for like 70$ at Furtureshop :o
but as i told my n00b mistake of buying the SiS 315 made my parents say "NO!"

<_< with the shipping and taxes it would prolly go till 100$

EDIT: here are 2 stores near by my house

www.factorydirect.ca << clearance store - may find REFURBISHED ITEMS!
www.canadacomputers.com

both are very good and cheap stores

Are you saying your just lookijng for a way to stop the game checking if its up to spec ??

Sort of like GTA3 asking for a 12mb video card or faster ??

If your trying to convince us that by telling your pc it has a faster video card increases perfomance, your on the wrong forum.

their is a lot of smart people on this forum and your not convincing any one.

if NFS:U doesn't support your GRFX card, its for a freakin reason. as in maybe it doesn't have the juice to power the game DUH, just buy another Video card u can expect as time goes on that games will stop using old outdated hardware.

Why not, it lies to me :P

Its not possible as far as I know, unless you install drivers for a higher video card, which

A) Would cause a multitude of new incompatiblity problems

and

B ) Would not make much difference as your card, even if it did work, would still be detected via hardware

BIOS is hard to fool

and beside, does what your comp think of the card matter? the card dertemind how fast your game is. so if your comp think its a 5900ultra and your running a mx400. then your game will perform at teh mx400speed not the 5900u
