View Full Version : How Much Room Have You Got On Your Pc ?

Steven McL

Since the majority constantly download from KaZaa I'm curious as to how much room you have on your computers.

Currently i've only got a 40GB hard drive but due to this rapidly filling up a 200GB one will be ordered in a week or so

Let me know what you've got :) ... Steven.

I do want to upgrade though, but not because of space, I just want a HDD with 8mb of cache. :D

Damn! Everyone has big ass HD's.

Mine's only 3.72GB. I need to upgrade.....badly. I only have 1.06GB left. This HD's is still from my first computer (which was purchased in '98.) My dad's friend who recently upgraded my computer didn't even bother to upgrade the HD.

Right now I have about 130GB free out of 160GB.
Since I did my last CD backup and built this new rig I've spent all my time screwing with the hardware and very little time actually using the damn thing.

I did manage to find the time to update my South Park collection though...I think I'm completely up to date now. Does anyone know if 711-Casa Bonita is the last episode?

Why do people keep wanting to know how much free space I've got?

What difference does it make to you? You don't know what I use it for, or if it varies a lot. You certainly aren't going to get the chance to use any of it. The only thing that matters is how much space YOU'VE got left, and whether you think it is enough.

I'm fed up of these "mine's bigger than your's" type topics.

Not to start another of the I hate company post (But I will anyway :P )

I hate the fact companies are doing that, buy a (whatever size) and you end up with gigabytes less, I know you lose some data in formatting, but now I've heard that it's because companies are using 1000 as the number mbs in a gig, instead of 1024. So no matter the size or what you lose in formatting, you still losing 24 megabytes a gig, just because of the damn companies manufacturing the things.

Ahh well, no more rants, at least not tonight.

What exactly will the 8MB cache do? Send data reallly fast and stuff? Like does having 8MB of cache allow stuff to load faster and stuff? like opening up progs off the HDD?

hehee lol dawg the more cache you have the better buffer you have between your harddrive and your mobo... that buffer can determine your sped of data transfer throughout the system if you go skimpy on it...

btw i have a raid set up of 2 250 gigers (new word :P )
and only about 50 gs left

gotta share P2P man!!

I have two PC's. First has two hard drives 120Gb and 80Gb, but only have 6 gigs free. I have too many tv programs on it and cant be bothered to convert them to watch on dvd player.

Second PC, this one (an older model) i have 80gigs and about another 6 gig free.

I really need to back up the stuff i have on to disk otherwise the space will disappear soon :o

But my prob. is do i convert the tv progs i've recorded so i can watch them on my dvd player or just copy them on data format <_<

I need to think very hard

Actually, if they are using the metric means of a GB 1,000,000 Bytes, as opposed to the Binary, then you would be losing 72MB, for every GB they claim, so I just multipled 72 Times my 120 Supposed GB, and got nearly 9 GB, 120 - 9 = 111GB, which is why i only have 111GB.

Oops :o problem solved, i accidently turned off the power on my older pc (with 80 gigs) when using partition magic (dos mode) to free up space. I freed up more space than i intended - damaging data on the drive, so had to reformat it.

On the down side i have to download the movies i damaged, but hey i've gained 72 gigs :D

Woah, read that, and thought it said you had 1,121.71GB's which would have been, umm, alot.

I got one 120Gb, and a 40, that needs to get repartitioned.
