y doesn't the original manufacturers driver work? mines Built by ATI, so y wouldn't their driver work?

I have an ATI Radeon card also, Abu.
With my new Asus board the ATI drivers wouldn't even install. There was an unending occurrance of memory access violations.
Drove me nuts and the guys at my shop nuts, too.
Omega drivers slid right in and all has been peachy ever since.

What have you got to lose.
You can always roll back the drivers...

glad it helped. but it didn't help with mine. still blurry and weird color. could it be my svideo to rca adapter thingy? cuz i got it with my old gfx. do u think theres a compatibility issue here? i cant live without tv out. please help me with this

You mean the actual cable adaptor itself?
Isn't a s-vid out port the same, no matter who makes it?
Seems like if it worked with one it should work with the other.

What settings do you have access to and have you tried tweaking them?

I just found this site (http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/radeon/index.shtml) and am beginning to read it. Perhaps a solution lies within...

i checked. looks interesting. but nothing about blurry display through tv out. do u think maybe i didn't plug the svideo thing in all the way? cuz when i 1st plugged it in, it was really hard to plug in, but i guess its brand new, so it might be hard. any thoughts?

mind giving a pic of how blurry it is? i mean, if its not too blurry, it could simply be a setting which needs to be changed

atiVidia

if its SOOOOOO blurry that it looks like someone smudged the ink on a painting, then could you give me a pic of the exact board ur using? (a pic of YOUR BOARD)

if the pic could be a zoomup of the hardware near the s-vid port, i might be able to determine a possible cause...

my card is a ATI made Radeon 9600. I got it from Best Buy. now, if ur asking for a pic of the svideo port, i don't have a digital camera. and the screen on the tv looks like my screen, but all the words are just jumbled up, and the mouse looks twice as big, and the color is really weird. totally not wats it's supposed to be. it might be a prob with my svideo port. i had to jam it in. but when i unplugged, none of the pins were broken or anything. so i don't c y its all fucked up like this.

reason i asked this was to see if it was defective or not.

how new is the card? if its younger than 30 days and you didnt screw the box cuz of rebates or anything like that, go exchange it for a 9600xt

if this doesnt work, remember this simple tip:

always plug the svid plug into the card before power-on

my friend fried his 9800 by not following these simple directions. you may have just fried the svid port

but i'm paying 70 bucks for it. unless the 9600xt is 70 after rebate, i don't think that'll work

which ones better: a card which is shit now, or a card which costs 130 more but wont be shit for two years!?!

you know what? fine! if you dont want a 9600xt, not my issue

go exchange yours for an identical product. final word.

ok. i just came back from best buy and i exchanged for a new one. it's still the same as b4. i have a feeling it's the svideo-rca adapter thingy that's cuasing the probs. should i get another one? cuz the adapter worked fine with my gfx

STFU! i strongly dislike distributing drugs to anyone of any age. DON'T BE TALKING BOUT DRUGS IN FRONT OF MY FACE FOO! ok, i'm cool. but no drugs. and the cable works for my gfx 5200 perfectly. i'm guessing the gfx cable doesn't work on the ati card. cuz the adapter cable i have came with my gfx. maybe it only works for gfx's and not ati's. i'll call radio shack some time

I don't think it would be the Rca to s-video adapter's problem. If it works for the Fx5200 then that proves it works, if it doesn't work for the ati then that means its more than likely the ati's problem. I'd return that ati again and pay enought to get a one notch better card. Then try that.

Also, radioshack is a rip off, they charged by $20 for an rca to s-video adapter, and I found it on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3066347011&category=15066) for $4 including shipping

well, i already exchanged the ati for another one. and same problem. i'm guessing the adapter might not be compatible with the ati card, knowing that it came with the gfx. i'm calling ati sometime soon to figure this out. in the mean time, if anyone here has any other solutions, i'm all ears

http://www.videocapturecard.com/7pintorca.html

How about this one? On sale at $12.95 if you don't mind just getting the jack? That means you'll have to have an S-video cable and an RCA cable to attach to either end of the jack. Otherwise you're looking at a little more cash.

edit: or this one (http://www.mycableshop.com/sku/20179.htm) for $10 - looks like a better buy.
