the specs are:

Windows 95
2 gb hard drive
cd drive
3 1/2 floppy
5 1/4 floppy
8 mb ram
33mhz clocked CPU

http://www.chinkii.com/uploads/album/misc/oldpc22200.jpg

the only usefull thing I would use it for parts as needed and maybe take the hd out and put it in your newer pc, just use it a swap file for windows

If you need a router, you could turn it into that.

Windows 95 ???

The minimum requirements for Windows 95 are:

- 486 DX2 66 MHz Micro-Processor

- 8 Megabytes of RAM

- Mouse

~130 MB Free Hard Drive space

And that was the first Windows 95, not Win95b.

I have installed it on a 50 MHz laptop but never on 33 MHz.

wow, 33mhz? win 95?

my dad has an old dell laptop (didnt fit very well on your lap though, so chunky) that measured processor speed in kilohertz. and it ran win3.1
the battery only lasts for about 10 min and its a monotone grey lcd screen.

i remember that computer was the first i used to play such microsoft games as: reversi, minesweeper, and solitare

"Turbo button"?

What does that do, goose the hamster?

That's already an antique, it could be a vintage collection.

SciManAl
12-03-2003, 11:15 PM
ohh i know what that is, shame clocker  tsk tsk tsk...
The turbo button is way of overclocking the computer! the maufacterer's way of making the computer look more impressive and actually do something, with a button hehehehe! :P

holy fuck! he doesnt know what the turbo button is!?!

and i thot that clocker was GOOD at these things!

yes, the turbo button is a way to overclock a PC, albeit a very ANCIENT method...

I only touched my first computer a year ago this week.

It lacked a "Turbo button".

Had I only known.

I am busy adding a Turbo button to my new PC.

Do you think that if I make it switch my PSU from 110v to 220v that it will have the desired "boost" effect?

mooseman2070
12-04-2003, 01:42 AM
i think it'd be cool to have a turbo button on your pc. it would be even better now that we have 3.2 ghz CPUs

SciManAl
12-04-2003, 03:27 AM
I only mean to play games with those who are older Clocker, as for the suggestion of 110 to 220 the answer is this, working/buring in a ball of flame is equal to 110/220...

the turbo switch actually changed the FSB etc... and overclocked it, i have an old computer that has several jumper configurations with On/Off switches for them or "Turbo" Switches, it is there for effect, not as much as actually dramaticly increasing performance...

Also @ clocker, why the hell didn't you say so man??? ! year ago??? we should have had beers, and celebrated!! :beerchug: !!!! Happy Year and a Week!!!

hehehehehe :P

ohh the turbo switch... hehehehe :P

You guys don't seem to get it. The 'turbo' mode was 'normal' and non turbo mode was to slow th PC down for older games. The games were designed to run at the speed based on the CPU speed. The newer, faster PCs needed a slow setting to play the games at the right speed.

It's not overclocking. It's slowing it down.

SciManAl

Well hell, that's no fun at all.

I can think of lots of ways to slow this thing down.
I can even crash her at will.

Where's the challenge in that?

SciManAl
12-04-2003, 03:53 AM
lol, hehehe i know i could kill my computer in mere seconds if my will desired it...
(although i know my pocketbook won't :P )

i really thought i knew that one... slowing down a 33,hz was not the problem back then... it was making them go faster... ohh well i guess i was wrong... hmmm...

Clocker, what are you thinking of?

Forget the turbo button, go for nitrous oxide.
If it doesn't work, at least you can have a laugh about it.

I did that :P, can't say i saw much of a speed increase though.

I always wondered what the turbo button was, it didn't seem to do anything on my old comp.

As for a 33MHz computer, you could run some older distros of linux with graphics turned off, i haven't figured out why you'd want to, perhaps as a router or a print server or a calculator?

didn't KITT have a "turbo" button...?

:-"

p.s. use the comp as a router, as was already suggested

...or beat the sh*t out of it, as was already sugested :)

I had an old 33Mhz aptiva, win95, with ran pretty smooth btw.

I got hold of a couple of old 100Mhz processors though, installed an overdrive one on it, so it's no longer a 33 MHz.

I was/am going to install linux, if I can find two network cards that fit, thataway I can turn it into a firewall. It's the best non-dstructive idea I've got. :)

I would personally use it as a test rig for old hardware, and maybe as a basic server to put my stuff on, with upgraded hard drives
