Go to dvdrhelp.com (http://www.dvdrhelp.com). Read the tutorials and note their recommendations for software. Very helpful site if you take the time to study it. All your questions can be be answered there.

But, if you want the full versions of those programs check the verifieds in this forum. (nudge nudge, wink wink)

tmpgenc is what i also would use, that program is good for just about any dv project.
