I plan on reinstalling XP pretty soon and I was wondering if I do so will stuff like my programs, mp3s, movies, etc. be deleted or lost?

That depends on whether or not you do a format of the drive first.
If you reformat, then yes, you lose everything.

Thanks for the reply clocker.

Well no I'm not formating the HD. So then my files are safe?

It's better to backup your stuff to be safe.

Why do you want to do a reinstall?

When you do a reinstall basically all the windows system files are copied over. None of your stuff in my documents or programs or elsewhere will disappear.

I'm getting this error when trying to install/uninstall that says my DOSX.EXE is not in the path AUTOEXEC.NT or something along those lines.

In otherwords, you're getting one of those incomprehensible, gibberish MS error messages and you hope a reinstall will solve the problem?

Dos.exe error (http://www.intuit.com/support/quicken/2002/win/572081.html)

Do a search on google also. As it says on there it has to do with NTVDM.

Yeah. One of the solutions that the microsoft.com site suggest was to reinstall if I remember correctly.

Of course.

That is the all-purpose "fix-everything" solution to every problem, isn't it?
