Is it giving any specific error messages? Post it here if it is.

Are you trying open them through a shortcut? The shortcut maynot be pointing to the file. Try going to c:\program files and then go to opera or trillian directory and open up the exe file.

looks like a possible virus to me. go download nod32 anti virus (pauls version) and scan with that.

to format a pc, you need to:
1) back up all important data
2) find your windows cd (if its a pre win 2k os you will need a bootdisk)
3) format your hadrive via a bootdisk (format c:) or via the xp/2k cd
4) install your os
5) install your drivers
6) install everything else
7) your done :)

If you bought a pc with Windows installed, then HP should have given you at least an OEM copy. If not, get in touch with them. You bought a pc with an OS, so you are entitled to a copy in case you need to reinstall.

There's bugs in the last couple of Opera releases. It calls a process that sometimes refuses to start.
If you check task manager, you'll see it trying to run. It may be cycling rapidly even.
csrss.exe is the one to look for. If it's pulsing, then Opera is loaded.
I've played with priority on it and got it to load faster but at the expense of system stability.
If I ignore it, Opera will sometimes open on it's own 5 or 10 minutes later.
I'm guessing this csrss.exe is already in use and doesn't want to be shared ????

You have an HP, you'll proabaly need their proprietary drivers. If they don't supply them, try www.driverguide.com

I have an HP, and I had to make mine, it says it right in the manual, try going to: start > all programs > pc help and tools > HP PC recovery CD-DVD creator

Or I had to make mine because its custom built from them.

Thats your recovery partition. I have that to, its what it burned onto the CD's. Try going to "C:\Windows\CREATOR\" and if you have that, you might have the program "CD Creator.exe", thats the program it used to burn it.

j4y3m
12-04-2003, 09:15 PM
yep i have that

when i do this what do i need to do then do you have a step by step guide?

would i still need all drivers etc?

Mik3ll
12-04-2003, 09:25 PM
Just follow the instructions it says. You will need at least 8 CD's, mine used that many, but my recovery partition is 5 GB.

You can only make one set of CDs, so dont loose them

j4y3m
12-04-2003, 09:26 PM
i have a total of 4 cds

j4y3m
12-04-2003, 09:28 PM
what exactly does this do?

Mik3ll
12-04-2003, 09:37 PM
There like recovery CD's. The recovery partition is an image of the data that was on your computer when you first bought it. Using this, it will copy that data onto CD's.

j4y3m
12-04-2003, 09:38 PM
ok thanks...i have 5 cds that should fit it all on right?

that's 3.5GB that should do right?

Mik3ll
12-04-2003, 09:46 PM
Im not totally positive, my computer used 8 CD's and its using about 5.5 GB, which would be about 8 CD's. I would wait till you get 1 extra CD. But you can run it now, if you need an extra CD, you can exit the program, and when you run it again, it should be back where you left it.

j4y3m
12-04-2003, 09:49 PM
ok ill give it a try thanks :)

:D It's all fixed now.

LTJBukem
12-05-2003, 12:11 AM
It is very important that you update the drivers that you now have. I don't understand this back up cd creator that comes with HP systems, but without doubt your drivers and directx will long be outdated. Do not underestimate how much of a negative effect this can and will have on your systems performance and stability.

Check the link in my sig for a walkthrough. :)

j4y3m
12-05-2003, 12:39 AM
I'll get the latest DirectX but I wont bother about the other drivers I've never updated them anyway apart from the Automatic Updates.

LTJBukem
12-05-2003, 12:43 AM
That's probably why you've been having computer problems.

j4y3m
12-05-2003, 12:45 AM
I just don't know what driviers to get.

LTJBukem
12-05-2003, 12:56 AM
First and foremost, get the latest drivers for your motherboard, graphics card, and soundcard. I don't know anything about proprietary drivers, your best bet would be to check out HP's website. If you can't find any answers there, start a new topic here asking other HP users where they get their latest drivers, i'm sure someone will be able to help you. :)
