I thin its still the earth simulater

The Earth Simulator system was installed in the simulator building (with floor space 50m x 65m) at Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences (Yokohama, Kanagawa) of JAMSTEC. This is the world?s fastest supercomputer configured with 640 nodes (64 Gflop/s per node, 5120 CPUs in total), each of which consists of eight vector processors (8 Gflop/s per CPU), and achieves the peak performance of 40 Tflop/s

16x burners will go on sale in a few months, Phillips are going to release them, so at least one part of your PC is already real.

Yeah they are, along with the 3.5's which just seems wrong to me for some reason. You really shouldnt be able to advertise 3.8Ghz, without having to say it is navitely a 3.0Ghz Chip.

The Machs look cool.
Really, though, I could care less about the box, but the monitors, those are too cool. Way to expensive though.

bigdawgfoxx
12-06-2003, 03:55 AM
Lol it isnt just about the monitor and the box...Look on the inside...insane cooling and everythings overclocked....that thing is awesome..too damn much though lol..they do load on the stuff though.

Dray_04

i guess its safe to say that the mach's are a dream PC.

sh  it... cant believe it doesnt have a hard drive but a flash drive instead.

Well, when I said the box, I meant the entire pc, cuz if you want to put some time and effort into it you could create a PC that was even better than that one, I’ve seen ppl who had P4's Oced to over 4ghz on overclocking sites, and had them staying stable.

You can pick up a refrigeration unit for under 1000, and then the rest of the PC (I'd have to price everything) but I'd say as an estimate you could put together for another 5gs or so., It would take a little time and effort on the part of the person building it, but it would be way less than the price they are charging.
More satisfying that way too,
(guess I should mention I meant for like a mid-grade of their systems, cuz if you started adding ram drives and flash drives, it would start to get expensive, but just for their bottom system they want 4gs without the monitor. Example, they are basically charging around $1600 for just a P4 3.2 extreme edition, which you can buy for around $1000 retail.)

Anyway,
I just think it would be cool to have a monitor like that, I know you can do the exact same thing just by buying more than one monitor; and buying either a video card that supports more than one vga output; or just putting a PCI and AGP video card in your system, but It's just not the same. Those monitors are kickin'. If only I had a few thousands dollars to throw away, I'd pick one up.

I'm fairly certian 3.2 is the last stock P4 right now.

12-06-2003, 11:51 PM
MOD CLOSE THIS TOPIC NOW! god i dont wana get into it again lol. If you have a lot of money then...Intel is the best. Statisticly intel is better OK! Amd is MUCH cheaper though (at least on there non top of the line...chips) Amd 2500 for $90 looks about the same as a P4 2.4 Ghz which is like $150.

think ull find that the amd 64 bit processors are currently the most expensive and are currently the best performing on the market...not the intels

bigdawgfoxx
12-07-2003, 12:15 AM
I duno...I wouldnt buy the athlon 64s though, there too new and way to high.

john_malkie2010
12-07-2003, 01:22 AM
agree with you on that but they are the best performing processor between the amd's and the intels on a desktop pc

bigdawgfoxx
12-07-2003, 01:24 AM
I duno..i still think the EE beat the athlon 64..but o well..well call it even lol I like the 2500XP newayz

john_malkie2010
12-07-2003, 01:31 AM
until intel bring out a 64bit cpu then they dont really have a cpu yet to match it performance wise but I wouldnt touch them at the moment cos theyre too new as u said and theyll be getting updated very shortly so the mobos u buy just now will mean u cant upgrade when they r changed.....the bartons are a good processor (i have one myself) simply cos they r cheap and oc well plus they handle everythin u throw at it just now
