Good song, Kevin. I wasn't familiar with it but there were familiar parts within it. Made me think of Led Zeppelin, The Who, and probably others I couldn't identify.

I looked it up and see i wasn't too far off. Apparently it was written to play tribute to the bands favorite artists from an era that was ending. They toured with some of those bands.

This is my knowledge obtained by listening once then reading a summary. I'm certain there's a lot more that I don't know.

I was living in Atlanta back in the day, and on a Saturday I had gone to a movie house in one of those large malls that dotted the suburbs to waste some time...I emerged about three in the afternoon to see hot air balloons being inflated in the parking lot, and several hay-wagons being arranged in a corner of the lot.

I was driving my '71 351 Boss, and I'd parked on the extreme outer edge of the lot to keep it safe.

It looked like something was going on, so I leaned on my fender and waited.

It ended up being a "free" concert (they were passing the hat for March of Dimes), and - unbelievably - when it was over, after midnight, I had seen The Cars, Nantucket, Foreigner, Genesis, and the opening act, a little band called Van Halen.

They had just recorded their first album, and closed by throwing a bunch of them into the audience, one of which I caught, courtesy of Eddie Van Halen himself.

Anyway, the Atlanta experiment lasted another week or so; I decided I couldn't handle the weather down there and moved back to the UP to live with a couple of old foosball buddies in a big old house on the south side of Escanaba.

We had a big housewarming party and I sprung Van Halen on the whole crowd and blew everyone away, then my roomie threw the Outlaws on the turntable and returned the favor.

Green Grass and High Tides is probably my favorite song of all-time.

The entire story sounds like an absolute blast. Every band you got the chance to see feels like a perfect soundtrack to match the times with that part of your life.
