there are many different versions of it
it uses a different kernal

depends on it is for (workstation, server, etc.) as well as personal preferance

Why is there so many verisons? Does linux allow you to create your own operating system? :clap: :helpsmile:

Because Linux is OSS, developers have the opportunity of designing their own OS.
