eh??

a link or picture would be helpful.

but even without seeing it, i'd guess that the answer is prolly "there's a sucker born every minute."

i've heard of these thermal electric coolers. don't c wat the point of the black pci card thingy is. for me, it's either peltiers, stock, slk-900, or ws. maybe some other good hsf, but this is just weird. wtf? i've cn it b4, but still not sure wat's so good bout it

Yeah I finally found something about it on the website...what it is is that the CPU and Heatsink are separated by an "electric pad" and it sends heat from the CPU to the Heatsink and its really quite or something..i have no clue what the point of the pci card is.

This is a peltier device.

It has the capability to cool your cpu below ambient temps; this bit is true.
But the explanation is a total lie, since it also claims to reduce noise.

This is an impossibility, there is extra heat (the peltier device actually produces heat) so you need more fans to remove it. The result is more noise.

oh. peltier. rite. ok. is it true that when the peltier thingy condenses, the water gets on the cpu and fucks it up?

The PCI "thingie" is the controller/power supply for the Peltier device and the fan.
Condensation can be a problem under extreme conditions, but I don't believe that this unit will reach that stage.

i know condensation is associated with peltiers. they get the cpu below 0, and when u turn it off, the liquid condenses and forms drops of water on ur chip. by by cpu

This particular Peltier device will not get the CPU anywhere within shouting range of 0 degC.

Although, if one were considering using this setup, I think you would be wise to see my thread from earlier today concerning dual PSUs.
Add this device and maybe 3-5 USB devices ( not that hard to do...my keyboard, mouse and smartcard reader are all USB) and you now have a fairly significant draw just with the mobo alone.

And that's not even mentioning the disco ball...

i c. but the pci card is a power supply for the peltier and 3 additional fans

:o Clocker was wrong! :D

Its 100 bucks because its a pretty valuable piece of equipment, wouldnt mind having one myself, although the talk of condensation worrys me

What were you saying that's wrong, clocker?

I think it still runs off the computer's power supply.

That's what I was going to say until I saw that it comes bundled with this...
http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/35-106-029-08.JPG
so apparently it does not.
From what I've read about this setup it's performance is still bottlenecked by the efficiency of the heatsink, which frankly, doesn't impress me as being all that good.

Now combine that with a decent waterblock and you may have something...

Ah... You're right. Look a this picture:

You can see the AC power cord connects to the PCI card.
