I downloaded a film and it is corrupted but plays in avipreview fine and virtualdub accepts the file but says it has errors, saying it detected VBR audio stream so I extracted the wav file and now I don't knwo what to do with it, how can I fix it for other players?

get Virtualdub-MP3. based on the original but doesn't give you that VBR error message. then go to Video>Check Video For Freezes and it will list all the corrupt frames in a "badframes.txt" file in some common directory (i forget which maybe My Docs of C:\) then just delete the bad frames
Can I not just run it through a repairer of some sort?

Mate the vbr msg dont mean the movie has errors. Its just telling you the way the audio is encoded. If it plays ok ,just leave it. :)
it crahses in windows media, bs player but it runs in avipreview and virtualdub and it suggests I re-encode the audio, I made a copy of the film using virtualdub and it plays in windows media and bsplayer but it says the seek will be slow so I dunno

if you just want to play it
http://www.videolan.org can play past bad frames, you shouldn't have wasted your time on anything else ;) but if you want to encode it i.e. make it into vcd/kvcd/svcd you need to always remove bad frames
divx repair will do it automatically
nah I dont want to encode it but I want to play it in some half descent players without gay errors

videolan is the best :D
in fact its the only one I use for video, I only check avisynith scripts in wmp
otherwise I would never use wmp
I just scanned the film and no bad frames were found, is it the audio then? if it is I already ahve extracted the WAV what do I do with it now?

Videolans shit mate...The best for playing avi's is powerdvd.
The seek is to do with the amount of keyframes. If you want to play with that ,look for a feature to build the keyframes which takes ages.Tri and play it with powerdvd xp 4.0 build 2750.If you still have problems come back.

not sure what you are trying to do (create a vcd ..fix an avi..) the wav file is just the audio decompressed..did you try divfix on your original avi file
yes, about the wav, virtualdub said to re-encode the audio in a constant bitrate so I took out the wav and don't know what to do next, im tyring to repair this stubborn avi

look you wasted your time encoding it, just deleat the wav
and I don't understand your not wanting to encode it to a vcd/svcd/kvcd and you can play it fine in videolan ?
I sorted the problem out, too many useless codecs on my pc <_< if anybody else ever has this problem, uninstall the kazaa codec pack and reinstall with everything you need don't just install everything there it WILL give you problems and conflicts, thanks for the attempted help anywayz :)

It will give you a 10 days free uses.
If you wanna crack it, download a video fixer crack. And put the two files in the program file..
