You could get the 9600, but it would only run at 4x agp - then you could get a mobo upgrade later on. I would also wait till after xmas, as prices will come down

I read that there isnt much difference between 4x and 8x agp (im running my 9600 pro at 8x tho)
But i never experienced it myself.

The 9600 pro is realy a nice card btw ;)

Where are you located in Canada? You may find a local shop that will have better prices.

THERE IS NO "BEST" VIDEO CARD!!
IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU DO..YOUR NOT GONNA WANT A 3GIG RADEON 999999 FOR GAMES LIKE PONG/TETRIS!!

tell us what kind of a gamer you are

AGP 4X is fine. 8X is hardly any better.

and you should be able to use just about any desktop graphics card that's out right now. i don't believe there are any 8X-only cards. they're usually 4X/8X compatible.
