Aim And Netscape

there was a little thing flashing on my AIM icon in the tray, so i asked my friend if he maybe knew what it was. he said he thinks its for my email. he proceeded to tell me how aim makes an email account at Netscape.com for you when you register your Sn. but i never saw this flashing on the tray icon before and when i went to the Netscape mail, there was one message and ti was dated Dec. 4.
what is up with this?
