if i aint mistaken that looks like a ecube. if you do it yourself you can customize some areas. and you know exactly what your getting, or you could base it on a shuttle mini cube. which is alot more know. and who kinda gets more asociated with mini systems in my view.? and personally if its a gaming machine arent you btetter with a crt monitor

Cygnuz-Y
12-11-2003, 03:43 AM
Yep, but remember taking a CRT to Lan Parties sucks...

Livy
12-11-2003, 03:46 AM
ive never had a lan party, do you go to alot of lan parties?

Cygnuz-Y

i live in the uk, and used the site. http://www.overclockers.co.uk and got a comparable amd syste, for £515 just the system, no monitor etc. im not sure how that would equate to your currency, but i think its cheaper, and if i looked around im sure i could save maybe another few quid.

edit: Specs

shuttle xpc sn45g
athlon 2500xp, barton core.
512mb corsair ram
seagate 80gb
hercules, ati radeon 9600 256mb
samsung,black, cd-rw/dvd combo drive
black floppy

and add bout 1000 to that price, which is already pretty high for a pc with only a nvidia 5600.

http://www.cubesystemz.com/

that looks like the same case, the same type of mini cases usually come with board aswell so there usually under barebone systems.

youd prob be better going for a shuttle mini barebone system.

abu_has_the_power
12-11-2003, 05:01 AM
but cygnuz, unless u really need the mobility, u can build urself a monster pc with 1500. u can have at least a 9800xt with p4 something extreme edition, or u can just get a full tower, buy wc, and get a 2.4c or soemthing and oc it heavily. with 1500 to spare, u got lots of options

INTEL® PENTIUM® 4 PROCESSOR (512K / 800MHZ)
PRICE: $232.99
What speed CPU is that?

and have you compared how much it would cost with an AMD Athlon XP ? You could probably make that a DVD burner with the price savings.

if he likes p4, let him stick with p4. cygnuz, if u want p4, go with it. a bit more expensive, but it comes out o the box as the speed it says. and p4's generate a lot less heat. very useful in small boxes. u might want to try anohter kind o ram. i have the infineon, and it's not too good. it's ok, but not really good quality

thats a 2.6 GHZ, but it seems that the motherboard is for P4 and not AMD and is the only one they have :(

falcon northwest makes that box, and it seems a little limited in expansion ability. i think its only good if your always taking your comp to lan parties (like was stated earlier). i would rather build up my tower instead of a little ratbox, but thats just my opinion. :P

yea. that's wat i was saying. u can oc ur p4 or amd, and add wc to ur tower. with this, u can't even add case fans. i'd still go with a tower. 1500 will build u a monster pc

you are right, what should i get then?

remember i dont have a monitor...

Mïcrösöül°V³
12-11-2003, 06:22 AM
buy a dell or some shit. you get a nice monitor and a decent comp, with all the trimmings, and youll have room to mod the damn thing, or you can build your own. a nice monitor will set ya back about $200.00(us). but if you buy a decent OEM comp, you can get a good deal for the same price as that ratbox. that box is for peeps who have alot of money and like to frag at lan parties. if you dont frag, then get a tower and shit on that ratbox. :D DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT BUY IT. YOU'LL BE SORRY LATER WHEN YOU CAN'T UPGRADE THAT PIECE OF SHIT. (again, just my opinion) <_<

fuck no man. a dell? u kidding?

build one cygnuz.

here's some good recs:

p4 2.4c
some kind of good wc
radeon 9800xt
mobo chipset: 875
u know, all the good stuff

and ram, go with pc3200 corsair or kingston

cuz u need good ram to oc.

then u got everything. as for monitor, find one for less than 300, and ur good

u can build all this for 1200 for sure

Mïcrösöül°V³
12-11-2003, 06:46 AM
i agree abu, i was just thinking he could get a monitor bundled with it. and if he aint OC'ing, a dell would be fine (not that i endorse OEM, cuz i think they rip you off). but yea, building your own comp is the BEST way to go, get an ASUS board, a P4 478 pin, and 3200 ddr ram, that IS the way to go. BTW, my comp is a gateway, with an intel bios (cuz i found out my board is intel d850gb) with RDRAM, and i have no problems, ever since i dumped all the gateway shit, lol :P

anyone remember GCN and his 5700 ultra overheat issue?

well he built the PC using the EXACT SAME CASE (www.AMSelectronics.com), and it has double the HDD space, a 5700ultra, a dvdburner (no firewire tho) for 1000 on its own. so i think building the PC with a case from AMS gives u the same result but better

btw wxphome sux

www.newegg.com ---> Computer Hardware ---> show by catagory ---> Barebones ---> Summary view.

is it that hard to find, newegg has it all.

http://images10.newegg.com/productimage/56-101-216-09.JPG

This would be more along the lines of what I would want should I get the money for it, *180

The Frag box, is at the bottom.

Btw, the Epox one also looks pretty cool, it also has the VERY handy and usable LCD screen built into the front.
