 wtf? htf?
NAV just discovered Downloader.MScache on my pc
so i clean it out, and 2 gigs are freed on my HDD...
dont know how this is possible, cause the way i figure i caught it
was a visit to trinsic and i wasnt paing attention when it prompted
me to install and run (whatever the f*ck it was)
right after that i got the message from NAV
but my HDD was 6.xx gigs full since, like, forever,
and after i disabled restore and cleaned my pc
there was only 4.xx gigs on my HDD
restore points + virus = 2 gigs?

It's very possible that system restore was taking up 2 gigs. If you don't use disk clean up occasionally, then this is to be expected. Norton will have cleared all the system restore points to avoid re-infection.

It is very poor practice to open files from location, particularly from crack site such as trinsic.

ALWAYS save to disk, then scan with AV, and then open file.

ALWAYS pay attention to what you are downloading.

yeah, thats my normal practice, just had a brain fart today :P
as for disc clean up, i run that about 4-5 times a week on average
it just blew my mind that removing restore and a virus freed up 2 gigs

and the file in question was one of those activex prompts
that i KNOW is bad buisness to ignore, like i said, brain fart

Norton can not access system restore, thats why on the Symantec site they tell you to turn off system restore before letting Norton AV clear up an infection ;)
