TorrentStorm (http://www.torrentstorm.com/) is okay, tested for a few weeks. I prefer Shadow's client (http://bt.degreez.net/) better. I see better speeds with it.

Everyone has there preference, just as matter of what you are comfortable with. Never hurts to test things out. Some clients may work better for others.

It's odd if there's a speed difference with Torrentstorm as it uses shadow's as core BT application.
You can even select which version you want to use.

I've never noticed any speed difference between Torrentstorm and Shadow's

Yes it uses the same core, however the latest vS.5.8.7 is not included despite allowing a version selection. I prefer the 100+ kB/s over 45-50kB/s that I was getting while using..............Again, everyone has there preference.

I use it and like it, however there is a bug that gives me problems now and then.

At times it will decide that any torrent I try to open needs to be in eternal idle mode. No matter how many times I try to start the torrent, it will immediately return to idle mode. I usually need to uninstall, clean the registry and reinstall. A reboot does no good.

Another thing that happens is that after a while (a few days) I cannot right click on the torrent and choose torrentstorm from the menu of programs to open it with(it dissappears from the menu). This goes right along with the above problem. It is solved at the same time.

I saw this posted about at their forum with no solution yet.

Other then that problem, I really like it. Very customizable.

Dropdown box only had S.5.8.6 for me, older version perhaps ;)

Not doubting the program, just prefer Shadow's client. :)

I use it and I've never run into any problems or slower speeds. I use the 5.8.7 core and no you shouldn't need to put your ip addy in abu.

Does this mean u need shadow's client installed for TS to use shadow's core?
so what is the point then??? me, i deleted TS and went back to shadow's...
doesnt make sense to install one program on top of another.

its not like that. all it means it that is build on it. u dont have to install a program on top of another. it already includes it in a way

Strange how it was defaulted to 5.86, as i have just reinstalled and trying it out again... and now i have it set to 5.87. if the speed is same as shadow's then i will start using this more or even exclusively.
Thanks a bunch man.

I actually reported that to the creator of Torrentstorm as a bug.
Turned out it isn't a bug but a deliberate choice of him, cause 5.8.7 was released literally a few hours before he released TorrentStorm.
He then chose to default to 5.8.6 as he didn't know if the latest had any problems. (a sensible action if you know the history of the Shadow's client...)

So everybody who just installed TorrentStorm be sure to go to:
View -> Settings -> Downloader Version
and choose the 5.8.7 core.

When using Torrrent Storm and downloading a torrent file and then opening the same file with another program such as Azureus, the file will not resume at the % complete...for example say you started a download with Azureus and it got to 24%....then u decided to use Torrent Storm so u opened the same torrent and everything checked up ok and downloaded ok....so you downloaded to 56%...then u decided to switch back to Azureus, here is where the problem lies...instead of opening at 56% it will open back at the 24%, anyone know y?

Azureus has a feature where it will 'remember' to which point it has downloaded a file and automatically resume on that point. It's called 'Fast Resume'.

To turn it off goto Configuration -> Files Tab and deselect 'Fast Resume'
Now it will always check a file or folder before downloading.

Wow! You just saved me A LOT of time and trouble, Thx! I couldnt figure out why the hell it kept resuming short, thx again!

Well, it IS a little tricky to find out. I had a similar problem and chanced upon the Fast Resume when I was looking at the features list.
