:( please go easy on me

how do you make a "donut" not a real donut but a circle with a hole in it
like this in photoshop or fireworks

/me doesn't use photoshop often.
I could tell you how to do it in Fireworks!

Don't use photoshop to draw things, you will be very limited. Use adobe illustrator, or Fireworks (I would use fireworks).

In fireworksMX:

In the Vector section of the Tools bar, click and hold the Rectangle Tool button until the menu appears, and select the Ellipse tool.

On the canvas, just click and drag to draw a large circle.
Then, click and drag to create another, smaller circle (doesn't matter where).

Now, use the arrow tool to select one, then hold Shift and click on the other....you'll have both selected.

At the menu across the top, go to "Modify > Align > Center Vertical" then go "Modify > Align > Center Horizontal".
This will make sure the smaller one is in the exact middle.

now (with both circles still selected) go to "Modify > Combine Paths > Punch"

ta-da!
