why have 3 writers? u have 2 cd-rw and on dvd writer, get rid of the 2 cd-rw's and replace it with a dvd-rom, also i would get a flat crt monitor(not a tft), if it isnt one.

edit: also if thats a throughbred amd cpu i woudl change it for a barton core one as it is alot easier to overclock, as the 2800 throughbred is as good as that core gets, where as the bartons only start at 2500, and easy to overclock if u wanted to.
and also bigger cache

i dunno why i cant remove the cd-r writers, and for the monitor i thought this one was flat screen...?

y get a dvd rom? he already has a dvd writer, that would do every thing.

i think clocker said this a while back, but try to get your ram speed to match those of your fbs. and if you want this to last a couple more years, upgrade to a 9600pro or more....but if you're like me and upgrade your vids card every 6 months or so, then that should be more hten enough

because that would allow for disk to disk copys, from dvds and cds etc, rather than having to swap disks. and not using your writer for normal disk and putting extra wear on it. and a dvd rom is more versatile than a cd-rom, and theres no point in having both a dvdwriter and cd writer.

actually that Vid Card is a 9600 Pro, and i will get a 52x cd-rw for the sake of speed, a DVD to play movies and a DVD-RW to burn them, cuz i want to clone dvds i need a DVD and a DVD-RW

BTW, what do think of the case :

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...T925-2004&Tab=1 (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=558336&Sku=T925-2004&Tab=1)

the difference between a 40x and a 52x is negligable, do the maths, its only 30 seconds difference for mking a 80min cd, so a seperate cd-rw isnt really needed.
edit: i got a barton 2500(retail) and nforce 2 based mobo for £105 which is about $240 cad

If your upgrading mobo and hd mate you could be better buying Serial(sata) mobo & harddrive instead.I dont think theres much price difference either mate.

but with a sata you need the ppower leads etc. and i suppose there isnt much price difference, but theres alose not much performance difference, if its a ata133, and sata is 150, and they are both 7200rpm drives

This is the mobo, does it support SATA, and BTW whats the difference with ATA..

Mate what extra performance are you expecting. Its big enough and its still early for sata so its good for the future. :)

you could prob get a asus a78nx deluxe for $165 and a barton 2800 for $190

and that board is meant to be one of the best

i know, but if you buy it now, and the technology does get better, you still gonna need a new driver and mobo in the future anyway. thats what i meant. i know that sata will get better.

You are mate a sata 150,10k rpm.

i know you do get the 10k rpm ones, but they are alot deared than normal sata and ata drives. depends if you have the cash to splash out on them.

edit: for a little less you can get 3x the storage, so it aint really worth it unless your loaded. imo

Livy

you could prob shave couple of hundred of that imo.

and i would go for the asus board. almost same price, and the non deluxe would prob be same price.

Hello

Just a few thoughts...

1. Amd is going 64 bit and and the Barton may become the bargain chip although it probably won't see more than 3500+ any way... You can get a 2500+ barton and oc it to atleast 3200 plus , That's a 350$ (athlon 3200+) chip for 95 dollars...

2. SATA is still young and your building a box with parts at the end tech cycle (but trust me this box will scream). Assuming it doesn't get reworked you can move it with next time you upgrade...

3. get the 9600XT slightly faster same price and you can download Half Life 2 for free when it's realeased!!!! (bundled software) You can also overclock the piss out of this card (and the PRO to)

4. check over at overclockers.org or motherboards.org to make sure the board your getting is bug free some boards with the nforce 2 chipset are buggy (don't play nice with sys with over 768 megs of ram or will run better if you run a matched set of DIMMs) It's a good chipset it just got alot of revisions in a very short time...

Hoped I helped :)
