btw, i called the 1-888 # for the circuit city rebate center, and they said that the 3rd rebate is supposed to print out, but they're having server probs, so only 2 r being printed out. they said the prob will be fixed by tomorow

Don't know if this works. But I called cir. city & they're out of them here where I live. But the salesman said I could walk in & pay for it (brick & mortar). And they send it to me. That way should work if the coupons exp dates jive with a delivery date for the HDD.

bigdawgfoxx
12-13-2003, 08:12 PM
Ok wont they get another truckload of these things in or are they discontinued?? Im still going to check my circuit city today..lol just to make sure :D i want that...

Edit: also they dont advertise this offer..on the website it still cost 140...so why would they be soldout?

THERE ARE COPIES IN STOCK... st least in San Diego County. There are probably 3 left in the county.

I went to circuit city and there was a nice person who let me order a copy from another store (because the store i went to was sold out). I told him about the 3 rebates so he printed 3 reciepts for me, even though only 2 rebate forms came out. I'm gonna print out the last one from the passwird website and hope for hte best :D

You MIGHT get lucky if you go to circuit city and ask the sales person to check the other stores in your area.

Lets say you buy a hard drive for $130

If the store is having a sale, usually they have "rebates"
You take your reciept and a copy of the proof of purchase from the item you bought and mail it to an address.
A few weeks later you get back a check for the amount the rebate was worth.
In this case, you get 3 rebates so you mail 3 seperate letters to 3 seperate addresses with all the information, and you should get 3 $40 checks in the mail.

DWk
12-13-2003, 10:02 PM
so you "win" 100 bucks for purchasing a drive that was so low in price?

SciManAl
12-13-2003, 11:32 PM
lol, no some people mess up the rebate, and so they don't gett the money, by this idea stores casn make things look very cheap, when indeed many will simply not manage to get the rebate to work...

usually new time buyers. black friday has been perfectly fine for me so far

SciManAl
12-13-2003, 11:36 PM
yeah only the fucktrads are the ones that don't fill it in or leave out the upc... but if you do it withy even a scrap of brains left... then it will be fine... the margin of error is still just high enough for it to be profitabale...

DWk
12-13-2003, 11:42 PM
so not a lot of ppl fill out the rebate forms?

no. a lot of people forget, or leave out their receipt or upc code when they mail, leading ot incomplete forms, and no rebate. i never had that prob

DWk
12-13-2003, 11:45 PM
oh i get it now..... but if people started filling the forms correctly, the stores would lose BIG bucks, right?

lol. no

usually the stores don't do rebates. the manufacturers mail the $ back to u. the store still makes the profit, only the company mails u the $. sometimes the stores do rebates, so they lose money

the stores don't loose money. they still get the profit they make of selling it to u. but the manufacturer of the product sends u the $ when u fill the rebate. so the manufacturer looses the money, not the store

Ok ...maybe Best Buy has some harddrives that they want to get out of stock to have more shelf space for something else...or if a company is discontinuing an item and bringing a new one it. The company can make a harddrive for probably 20 bucks or something like that. They just put out rebates and people pay FULL PRICE...then send in the rebates for their money back. So with that harddrive I would still pay $140 and the company is hoping I dont fill it out right, or dont even send it in and then they make a lot of money..or if I do then they might loose a dollar or 2 but still...they just do it...ok they want to do it so they do it damnit! lol I kinda lost myself halfway through that but ohwell...maybe he can kinda understand..

DAMN MIDTERMS!!!

Yeah, glad im not the only one who doesnt check his HD temps.

Look, Abu, just keep an eye on your mobo temp, dont worry about your HD temp, overheating is the last thing to worry about on a HD.
