I love animals...who doesn't? I'll fight for animal rights all day, and I dispise hunting for reasons other than food. But hamburgers are good, bacon is good, and steak is really good.
Eating meat is only natural, food chain, circle of life; that's how it works.

We've had this dicussion of the treatment of animals and vegatarism before and it has a way of pissing people off so lets hope Jonno and the Hijack crew turn up :D

Just in from InternetNews.com:

.......Calif.-based PC manufacturer shows Chairman and Chief Executive Ted Waitt driving down a desert highway in an 18-wheeler, with the company's talking Holstein spokes-cow at his side. The cow whips out a homemade music CD -- labeled "Cow Mix" -- and begins playing Devo's 1981 hit "Whip It," to which Waitt and the cow sing along.

Digital music is exploding right now, and the benefits of the Gateway 500X music PC are brought to life by Ted and the cow doing what we all do -- singing in the car,"

Meh, they're just animals. Vegeterians are pussies.

The captions on that song are wrong in some parts, and it doesn't fit at all. It says, "You can't even think for yourself", and it's as if the animals are saying that.

Ha! Animals telling people we can't think for ourselves.

The initial post had no bearing on what you eat.

It was about human cruelty towards animals. I cannot stand the site of abused dogs, victims of people enamored by puppies, but indifferent to the grown animal.

People are petty and cruel. We are irresponsible and trivialize the existance of animals.

Why can we not respect all life, is that so hard?

ScotchGuy

I don't like the idea of animals being beaten, but I don't mind if they're hunted for food. I'd rather have it be an animal than another human being.

True, but not at all related to this thread.

The thread is about cruelty toward animals not about survival, but negligence.

The thread was highjacked and deserves respect.

When it comes to being cruel to animals, perhaps one could control his need to be funny.

All posts are an individual decision.

I play with the pointless and respect those worthy.

The lounge does not mean that legitimate threads should be trashed, that is an individual decision.

@Hobbes: ^, No one, well at least not me, would disagree that the treatment of animals in some parts of the world, possibly even more close to home than we'd like to admit, is outright despicable.

What some people reacted to, was, however, not this fact, but the way it was said in that flash, it was stupid and sentimental, not to mention illogical.

Had he or she started with a rational argument, and explained why this is wrong, rather than this cheesy, crappy thing, I'm sure the tread wouldn't have been hi-jacked.

If you'd like to start a thread on the subject, in world events, I promise to not hi-jack the thread, and furthermore, I may very well support your point of view.

If any of this makes no sense, it's probably because I'm feeling a wee bit under the weather, so pardon, if so.

That is a valid point Snny. Sometimes how you say something rubs people so wrong that it over-rides the actual merit of your point.

I only watched the first few images and knew that I would not be able to stomach the whole video and clicked it off, so I didn't appreciate the abuse of sentimentality.

I should have appreciated that people were responding to this aspect of the thread and not the content.

My bad, apologies all around.
