windows XP?
if so, go to system properties > advanced > startup & recovery settings > system failure > uncheck "automatically restart".
then go check the event viewer (sys tools > admin tools) to see if anything was logged.

Event viewer...

The Network Address Translator (NAT) was unable to request an operation of the kernel-mode translation module. This may indicate misconfiguration, insufficient resources, or an internal error. The data is the error code.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

any ideas? thats one of the errors in the event viewer...well its the only one but 2 errors whenever it happens..... 2 of the same...

if i uncheck the automatic reboot will it stop rebooting?

If you have XP then use system restore to go back to a time when your pc was working fine.

It could be some driver error, i had probs like this before, but didnt have the time to investigate properly so restored the system instead.

By the way if you have downloaded some software recently (since restore point) you should zip them up, otherwise windows will remove it, as it deletes any .exe stored since restore point, just in case its a virus.

no.
you'll get a system message if it's blaster.
but I would make sure there' not any updates or new virus defs...
I couldn't really find anything on the prob.
does it usually occur when you're using a specific program or doing the same thing?

Ya I have the exact same thing happening to my computer. It's odd, and I always thought it was because of the fact that I'm running 128ram, but if its happening to you at 512ram, then who knows........

this notepad file is, im guessing, the error file for it, but, again, who the hell knows.... This file is somewhat old (NAV and IE are both gone now), yet im pretty sure it pretains to the problem, and it still happens now without those 2 still there, so whatever...............

You could tri this mate to see if you have a problem driver.

Start>run>type "verifier"

Select standard settings>all drivers on this computer.

Once its finished mate repeat to turn it off.

error codes can be tricky to sort out.
hears a good starting place brain scrambler (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=0x000000d1)
i had a simular prob.
i found the quickest way was to run msconfig>help bottom right, and follow the instuctions.
my prob was my printer driver.

DWk

How many times do i have to say this, USE SYSTEM RESTORE, no formating necessary

System sometimes developes driver problems even without updating or changing drivers, its happended to me before.

Sorry my fault didnt read all the posts  .

If the prob is driver related you could remove one device at a time from your system, boot up windows and see if you have the same prob again (you will also need to remove driver of that device). If the prob stops then you would have identified you culprit. Once this happens you can reinstall the device and driver.

From my experience probs like this are caused by video cards and modems, so you could try removing them first (one at a time)

I think you should install some system restore software, if you have xp its built-in. System restore eliminates so many probs, including virus infections, driver instability etc.

I have a few questions for you -

1) does the computer heat up before it shut down?
2) have you overclocked your processor ?

The reason i asked is my friend bought a computer form a local dealer about 2 years ago. It worked fine for a few weeks, then all on a sudden it would heat up and the computer automatically shutdown unexpectedly. So we took it back and got it replaced.

The reason it did this was because the dealer was a bit doggy, they overclocked the proccessor slightly and sold it as a quicker system. Overclocking makes your system unstable.

If i were you i would take the case off and check the proccessor to see if its a genuine 18000, thats if its visible.
