Cd Burner

my brothers laptop burner recently is failing..

heres wat happen...we open nero/roxio add files and burn, everything goes good until bout 30% then the speed drops down to 1x then it crashes....we have killed like 4cds trying

CDRWIN
Nero 6
Roxio

tried
defragging
scandisk
cleaning laser lens wit disk
virus scan from NAV,AVG,and "trend micro" on the internet
burning at low speed
different cds

i dont know what to do and i dont think a format would work... :(

have you checked if dma is on?

i had this problem a while ago....

nero-nero toolkit- infotool.exe

then config tab... check ur drive(s) for dma on or off....

then report back :)

btw....what chipset does your mobo use? VIA?

yes DMA is enabled on hdd and cd-rw

where do i find his chipset...

the laptop is a Compaq Presario 2100
