How long should they be allowed to run?

Just recently, one chap had this thread http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=87819 running for three days, and it kept getting bumped to the top, often by himself.

More than a day later another chap started a new one, and this one http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=88078 got closed down when the other did, both of these threads contained a bit of spam, so how come one of them got to run longer? it somehow doesn't seem fair.

Personally, I'd prefer it if we had it Skweeky's way, and all threads about new forums had a section, or all announcements had to be made in a dedicated thread, but if they can't, shouldn't the same rules and the same limitations apply for everyone? And what should those limitations be?

:)

I completely agree with Snny. I get fed up reading threads that are promoting something or other.

promotions and advertisments of all kinds shouldn't be allowed, imo

just off to get a refreshing and cool Coca Cola now ;)

I have a cold Pepsi

I do agreee with what you're saying Sonny. A little something in the sig is okay IMO though

That'd be the ideal solution, only allowing promotions in sigs, but if that can't be done, could there be some kind of time-limit that should be implemented? to keep the threads from going on and on, like let's say a day, and then the thread gets closed.

I'd say no threads at all, Sigs only ;)

3. Spam is not permitted in any form. Any posting or messaging of junk content is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: unsolicited advertising, deceptive links, repetitive postings, postings or messaging for the purpose of commercial or personal gain, links to online popularity game sites (i.e. outwars, kings of chaos, Porn Star Guru, etc.) This also applies to content in signatures and avatars. Any questions or requests related to this subject may be sent to the forum administrators.

The rules do say none at all though

Yeah but there seems to be an unofficial rule that lets you promote your forum or site once.

At least that's the impression I have this far, and there's even a mod in the first thread warning the guy to stop spamming, it doesn't get closed right away.

one mod said earlier somewhere. That if this happened it requires alot of extra work for them because they always have to go check every link to make sure it is suitable for the rest of us to go to.

That would be more reason to permit no promo-threads whatsoever, wouldn't it? :)

Well if that is the case one of them was not doing their job. I went to a link the other day and it buggered up my computer good and proper. Trouble is I cant remember what the link was. Lucky my son did computer science at Uni and he sorted it out.

they should just be deleted.
putting them in a seperate forum just makes em easier to ignore.
so it's just wasted space.
if someone wants to link to their site, let em sig it.

Well I think you should all go look at Rikk & Cowsy's, just for the crack. This is not an advert, this is an opinion.
