I know this is rather late but:
I must be the only one here that is this pissed off about this... I happened to like looking to see how many people had more posts than myself. I also liked knowing, not by mere experience, who has been here longer and has more experience with a certain subject.

Now when I see someone say something, I don't know if it's someone that hasn't been here for a long time and changed their nick, or if it's some noob who thinks they know everything. Thus I have to try ALL suggestions, whether lame or not. You tend to trust the suggestions of someone if you know they are more experienced in the field. Would you take a pill someone gave you, and they said "Trust me, I'm a doctor."? Would you believe them, or would you rather know that that person has dedicated a very long amount of time in knowing what they are talking about?

I know that you can click that stupid member post and search back through their posts, but thats just a little to much extra research that is just unnecessary. Not to mention the fact that it can stray you from your original intention. I seriously don't want to read through what so-and-so had to say in the porno topic next door, just to see if that person has experience in the catagory at hand. That also goes for having to click a person's profile to check as well.

I think that there should at least be an option here. Start out the new people with the "members post" link, but we should still have the option to have a post count in the "My Controls" section. It's only fair to those who have lived with it so long.

Edit: Paragraphed to Adster's delight!

I have to say i agree, people in the lounge (including myself) have conversations with each other through topics, which shouldnt really be counted towards how experienced a member we are...

I think theyre should also be a new star rating system, going 1 star, two stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, 5 stars, and then, on 10,000 posts (and lets face it, one day its going to happen) you get the maximum 6 stars. So, its much more of an achievment to get the stars next to your name, and very easy to see who the experienced and DEDICATED members are, rather than in pure post count. Stars should also be able to be awarded or taken away by the moderators for spam etc

just my opinion

I think it's good that they have stopped with the post numbers. I've noticed that when some people get x ammount of posts, they feel they have the right to boss everyone arround and act like a mod. which is quite annoying. I've seen a few members that have been here, in the past, for two months of being polite, considerate and never talked back to (when they hit a high post) thought they could boss everyone arround, even long-time members. every post they'd say

"thats not for this area" "shut up!" "thats already been said!!!" and so forth.

As for how long a member has been here, it says "member number" and "date joined" beside the stars.
