i just tried compressing some bins and iso files there with winrar and i'm very surprised by the results.

i compressed an ISO of Grand Prix Legends from ~180MB to ~62MB and i compressed a BIN of Midnight Club II from ~808MB to ~750MB

anyone else tried this?

edit: sorry, got figures wrong first time, wrong file :">

The first looks like very good compression.

I think the best software for media compression is uharc, but it is very slow because of the compression ratio, but ideal for creating compressed files for kazaa downloads.

you didn't mention what type of compression you used

had a try myself with .RAR - .iso compressed to around 41%
i've tried bin/cue before, i can't remember the figures but it was crap, not worth the effort

i just used the normal compression with winrar (as mentioned above) :)

Sorry I commited a mistake not supposed to mention Media Raider. But in CD Space Software I think there's compression for ISO.

no, but it takes less time to upload a smaller iso...plus it uses less storage space :)

Not a bad compression. Id like to know if any app can compress a 700mb to 500mb or under. Often find myself putting them on cd, then losing them , would be easier storing my fave cds on my second drive. :)

after trying various iso's and bin's, basically i've found that the space you save by compression with winRAR is very variable

i suppose you should just try using winrar or uharc and seeing how well they compress...
