Burning To Dvd

hey, dunno if this has been asked before, but anyway...

right, i got a load of movies on avi, and i have a dvd burner. i wanna change the avi to svcd and then burn it onto a blank dvd. what should i use to do this. ive tried it before. like i got software to change it from avi to mpeg2, and then i tried burning it onto dvd but it didnt work. then earlier tonight i put it on a dvd but it wouldnt read the file.

lol, i tried nero, but it wudnt burn it onto my dvd. what do i do in nero?

well, it depends on how you encode the movie

VCD->VCD
SVCD>SVCD
DVD>MiniDVD or DVD
