Here is my little guide to dc++:
Download the programm here: A list of clients (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6513)
Installing the programm should be very easy !
Next option is to make your settings: Nick , Email (optional),description (what your sharing etc) and connection (so other users know what connection u have) , active or passive (passive means your using a router/firewall) important as users with firewalls can not browse and dl files from each other!
Downloads:
The folders where your downloads go to: Please do not share this folder as noone likes incomplete downloads!
Public hub list URL

Important:
When you add one of these please remove the < and > signs otherwise the list will not download!
If one of those lists doesnt work then try another, sometimes the sites are down!
Sharing:
Add folders that you want to share. Upload slots - leave only as many slots open as you are capable of handling with your connection - as a rule allow 5 KB/s per slot. Dc++ allows you to connect to as many hubs that ýou like but hubs also have rules - mainly to leave 2 slots open per hub that you connect too.
Here are also some guidelines as too make your stay on Dc++ enjoyable :
When entering a hub please read the rules first! (some hubs dont allow porn for example, others only movies etc) - do this helps you not get kicked out of a hub.
When the hublist is downloaded you can also see a description of the hubs and some rules about it : minimum share, connection type etc. All hubs set a minimum share limit: 1gb/2gb/5gb/10gb/50gb/100gb etc. Some even have no share limit so its up to you what hubs you want to get connected too. This is all done to ensure that you really share stuff and not just leech.
Nearly all ppl on dc++ hate leechers and will report you to an op, most likely you will get kicked and banned so dont think about getting a hacked dc++ prog as mentioned in another thread on this board . The hub owners have special dc++ Programms and bots that check for these leecher clients and believe me all get found sooner or later (ip banning is also possible).
Dc++ is really huge , there are loads of hubs out there ( a hub is a programm set up by the owner on his pc /server), so when you search stuff you will only find stuff that is in the hub you are connected too. If you dont find what your looking for you may have to connect to a different hub !
So i think that should be enough information too get started, 1 more thing though if you have any problems/questions this command may help you while you are in a hub: !faq (a second window pops up with a list of frequently asked questions and answers - you could also ask an op as they will also be able to help you - thats what they are also there for , not to just kicking ppl and check filelists !
