Burnt Ps1 Games On Ps2

Hey,
I have burnt a few games for PS1 to play on my PS2 and they just stop when the Playstation screen shows on the screen. Is there anything I can do to get past this problem??
(I do have a modchip installed)

i dont think psx (playstation 1) games work on ps2

They do. PS2 is backward compatible. I have no idea how to fix the problem though. Sorry.
