Check around your area if you got any suppliers that aren't really commercial. I got a place near me called CCL Computers and stuff is pretty cheap there, compared to normal shops.

If you're going to spend £150, then go for the Plextor 8X, its highly rated.

I have a BTC 8 speed drive, it cost me about £100 ($150), but has probs with too many disks. I'm thinking of returning it and buying a pioneer or plextor after christmas.
