Dvd Ripping Too Slowwwww

I have this rw and it's only ripping dvds at 2x surely that isnt correct.I have a very old DVDR drive and it reads it faster then the Sony drive.

Can Any one come up with a solution

Toshiba and Sony are famous for this. The ripping speed is set in the firmware. The only way around it is changing the firmware (voiding your warrantee!) and it's not guaranteed it will work.
