I'm deciding what I should buy with my xmas money. Does a 56k modem work with PS2 online, especially those good games like Socom or such?

Depends. Most of the good online games (like Socom) are for broadband only.

ps2 network isnt as good as xbox live, although ps2 does have a wide selection of games...ps2 server's are ran off some guys own cable modem..in xbox tho, they are ran off of top-notch servers

the PS2 online ethernet connection can only be run by broadband 56k doesnt have the capacity to handle that stuff :)
