yeah i have a copy of ms encarta 2004 , installed without a hitch

using the database and dictionary function fine until couple of days ago i was installing a new cheat for counterstrike...

i dont remember but i wasn't installing any new software or hardware.

one day i wanted to look up a word with the dictionary, i opened the program and everything is blank in the search field.

i then opened up the main encarta program it's empty too. the article titiles are there but just wont show content.

I dunno if this is ms's trick at copy protection but i tried reinstalling the shit but to no avail

any ideas anybody?

PS i got ms .net framework 1.1 installed, dunno if this has to do with my problem but the cheat needs this to run :(

well the only thing I can suggest is to try system restore, to go back a few days.

If it doesn't then you always undo the restore.

Check and see if some other things still work, try online java games, flash 5, and quicktime apps. If any of those fail, you have the poblem.

Were you running on the MS java virtual machine, and wiped it on update maybe?

There's some interoperability problems with flash5 and flash7, check you have both.

try upgrading QT or check associations aren't interfering.

Check your IE6 updates. dotnet may have wiped one or set it back to an earlier version.

Check your WMP9 and make sure it's the right build and working. Check it's associations. It should be set to run everything by default. You can change that later if you get it workin.

Make sure you're logged in to .net passport service at MS (hotmail, etc. )

Try updating encarta and see if you get an error message or code.
