..shouting means "Caps Lock"

Anyhow, you need to convert the movie to a DVD MPEG. In the USA it is NTSC. In the UK, it is PAL.

But before you convert the movie, you should check it and fix it with FixVideo (http://www.fixvideo.com/), because most DIVX and XVID movies are created with flaws.

If you discover that your downloaded movie uses the AC3 codec....
There is a known problem with AC3 audio in DIVX abd XVID movies. You need to extract the audio from the FIXED video and save it as a PCM WAV file (noncompresed). Use VirtualDub or CoolEdit Pro to extract the audio.

Use TMPGenc to make the DVD MPEG. Use the video as the source, and the new audio as the audio source.

Depending on your CPU and the speed, it may take a few hours to convert.

Use NERO to burn that MPEG.

Good Luck!

I don't burn them as MPGs.

I convert them to DVD Video with menus etc using ULead Movie Factory 2.

That creates a playable DVD from avi files.

Then I use Nero 6 to burn the files to DVD-R disks.

To make copies of original DVDs I use DVD Decrypter to extract the actual files. If necessary I use dvd2one, to remove the movie from the rest of the crap.

As I am currently paying 75p per DVD-R I find this to be an ideal solution.

I also have X-OOM DVD Creator, which I a told is good, however I have only just started with that.

I think it creates the MPG files which these chaps are speaking of.

A DVD IS an NTSC MPG. It is exactly this...

MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps

ULead Movie Factory 2 is good for converting, but not as fast as TMPGenc. I still use NERO for DVD burning.

I explained what I did earlier, the method suits me.

To each their own. Oh and I think it's PAL for most places outside of the US, or is that a different thing.

TMPGenc is the biggest pain in the ass.

I downloaded a movie that was in the gay ass xvid format, i converted it to a divx avi and TMPGenc doesnt like converting it to mpeg 2.

It converts it to mpeg 1 perfectly but mpeg 2 seems to go all retarded and the sound goes of :(

It takes about 4 hours to convert to mpeg2 and it doesnt play properly and i have tried like 4 times now

If i can only find my cd with the Ulead programs i wouldnt have this problem :frusty: :)

Why bother with all that fuddling about???????

Get yourself a gigavideo transmitter thingy and beam that pic direct to your tv at the click press of a key.

No disc - no conversion just immediate viewing pleasure.

But shouldn't this be in Hardcore world?
