you have a 9600 and you say it shouldnt be much better? the 9600xt has a clock speed of 500 while yours is 325, and the memory speed is 600 while your is 400....ppl wouldnt have paid the extra 50-80 dollars if it wouldnt be much better.

EDIT: saw you oc your clock speed a tad w/ ur card....but still teh xt should get at elast 15 fps more

My god. Its gonna be able to run on an Xbox.

Stop worrying, if it can run on an Xbox it'll on just about anything with a 9000 series Radeon :P

I reckon the Xbox will bring this game down though. The box don't work with higher res textures :(
Same happened with DX2.

stop comparing pc to consoles....just cuz it will run on xbox doesnt mean it will run on a pc. the xbox is made for games....and developer have a certain guidelins to follow to make sure the game work...while on pc, they dont have as many cuz you can upgrade your hardware

they bought bungie who made halo they didn't make haloe genius. and bungie was gonna make Halo for PC and it was supposed to be a good game right up until MS had them scratch that project and turn it into a FPS thats repetitive and dull. also Carmmack said their having a hard time porting the game to the X-Box so when it does show up on the X-Box dont expect it to look anywhere close to as nice.

not really sure. looks like 640 to me. i don't think it can even change resolution. it's still alpha dude. btw, ati is better than nvidia benchy wise and looks better. the powercolor one is just an oced version of the original. if it's the same price, it's ur choice. but if the powercolor one is more expensive, then buy the original and oc urself

actually the powercolor one is cheaper :D ill buy tht tomorrow...

but it is better than the Fx5600256ddr? right cuz nvidia is for open gl and ati for direct x so if the power color is better i will go grab it!

and also the good part is tht the fx5600 i bought had like 70$ mail in rebate and we had to pay the tax for the original price....(150 sale price) so the powercolor is only 191$ and no mail in rebates so its perfect!

wt do u think?

abu_has_the_power, you can change the resolution  ! u didn't know? use the console to change the settings, it's on that doom3 tweaking site (ya, the illegal one, use google). i got it running at 800x600, low settings (everything turned off, and it still looks awesome!), and i'm getting 7-8 fps, 2-3 fps while shooting. and this is on my crappy nvidia geforce2 mx 100/200 32 mb craptacular video card!!!! you think you're happy, i'm more happier than your right now!!!! yay!!! joy to the world, i mean, joy to me!!!!!!!!

I can get up to 50 fps on the alpha - with just one tweak required.

com_fixedtic 1

At least, i think that was the command.
Pro : Game suddenly jumps from 25fps to ~50 fps.
Con : Game runs in slow motion. -_-
Pro : Makes alpha easier. ^_^
Con : There's only three levels, why do you want to make it easier, you dolt? <_<
Pro : I can sit there shooting a light and watching the pretty shadows wiggle all around.... :flowers:
Con : hmmm... i think i'll pass. :frusty:

From what i hear, the version ID was flashing around recently runs a lot better - the final should game play well on even my rig. (Xp2200+, 1gigDDR333, and... a Geforce 3. <_< )
I need to upgrade my card.. its holding me back.

Popular commands

Checking FPS: type com_drawfps 1

Bump Mapping on/off (try switching back and forth, you'll see the changes):

r_useStandardGL 0 (this turns bump mapping ON)
r_useStandardGL 1 (this turns bump mapping OFF)
Dynamic shadows on/off (BIG performance difference):

r_shadows 1
r_shadows 0
Changing resolution:

r_mode 1 (400x300)
r_mode 2 (512x384)
r_mode 3 (640x480)
r_mode 4 (800x600)
r_mode 5 (1024x768)
r_mode 6 (1152x864)
r_mode 7 (1280x1024)
NOTE: Changing resolution will not take effect until you either restart the game, or type vid_restart

Changing bit depth:

r_colorbits 32
Fullscreen on/off:

r_fullscreen 1
r_fullscreen 0
Mouse Sensitivity:

its coming out in April 04 the one hes playing is the Alpha from the E3 2 years ago so if hes getting decent FPS on that then he'll gets even better FPS on an optimized code.

if hes getting 35fps on a much faster radeon 9600, take a rought estimate at what you're gonna get
100? [/b][/quote]
The max u can get on DOOM 3 is 60 FPS they have it capped off at 60.

he has a regular 9600 and he oc it to that clock speed

oh, and btw, the clock speed for the 9600pro is not 600/600, it 400/600...the xt isnt even 600/600...the xt is 500/600

Apollo - not true. In benchmarks as early as May this year, D3 was scoring rates above 60fps (bear in mind that that engine is probably running a lot faster now than it was back then).

May Benchmarks on Doom3 from Tom's Hardware Guide (http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030512/geforce_fx_5900-11.html)

From what ive heard the current build is capable of 60+ on gf4's - it's also more scalable so you can cut out some of the eye candy to get it going smoother. :)
Anyway, chances are that if you couldn't get it above 60, there was another limiter somewhere else. You probably left Vsync enabled by accident (60 sounds right for that).

Project E-01 - almost a spammer. :)

well. originally carmack demoed doom 3's engine on mac's geforce 3s, and it worked pretty well. btw, wat settings are the defaults for the alpha? i didn't bother checking yet

from ur link, i can c how biased tom's hardware guide is. there is no way that the radeon 9800 pro can't beat a 5900ultra in all the test but one. ati kicks ass

Like i said, the benchmarks were back in may, whilst the catalyst drivers were still poorly written and less than stable, and just after the Detonater drivers had undergone some hefty optimisations.

If you check the following link, they've got benchmark results for all the big contender cards at the moment... and the 9800 does in fact (just) beat the 5900. :)

Recent TH benchmarks (http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/vga-charts-03.html#unreal_tournament_2003)

Anyway, we're off topic. I posted the original link to prove that D3 could go above 60fps, which ive done. :)
