Just open up Nero>select to burn a Video Cd>Drag and Drop the Avi then burn. Nero will automatically encode the avi to mpg.

Open up Nero>enable the wizard>follow the steps until you get to the drag and drop screen> drag and drop the avi(s)> Burn!
Usually it will be one avi per disc but sometimes you can fit two avi's onto a disc (depends on size)

If you click on help and select Use the Nero Wizard, that will guide you though

and do it for you. ;)

Yes, they do work. Don't worry, it will play. Just burn your avi and see what comes out. I also recommend not to use TMPGenc unless you know a thing or two about encoding or you will be asking alot of questions.

My first time with VCD too. Have a few questions

To burn a movie I got off Kazaa and watch it on my dvd player is Open Nero>select to burn a Video Cd>Drag and Drop the Avi then burn?

Will a regular 700MB CD be able to fit a movie?

TMPGenc is short for Tsunami MPG Encoder. It basically encodes a movie file to mpg format.

It depends on the length of the Avi. You must encode an avi into mpg before burning into a VCD. With Nero, one avi per disc is my standard since you can't tell how big your new mpg is since Nero doesn't tell you, (it might and if it does, then its usually too big for two avi's. When I burn will nero do the encoding for me?

The size of the .avi's I wanna burn are 717,000 KB and 709,000...Should I go ahead and try it?

kinda risky because ........ i did that once but the audio was outta sync so GO WITH TMPGENC PLUS OR tmpgenc and virtual dub

DWC

Everyone says this version of LOTR is outya sync but it works perfect for me :D

I used TMPGenc to encode my avi and now the audio is out of sync in the newly encoded mpg. I used VirtualDub to extract the .wav then I tried to encode (avi in the video box, then the wav in the audio box) and the audio is early by a few sec.'s... Do you know how to fix this?

P.S. It was my first time encoding with TMPGenc.

yes. You just have to have a DVD player that plays cd-r, cd-rw. Almost all do.

You can use regular Cd r/rw's. It's a VCD which is MPeg 1 which is a a predecessor to DVD's (MPeg2). There's a benefit to using Cd-Rw's in that you can keep reusing it and burn new movies.

Would'nt advise it thou as the copy would'nt be as good as the first time round, could cause the disk to skip

parts of the film. ;)

DWC
02-19-2003, 05:40 AM

Everyone says theres a sync problem with the LOTR 2 disk rip  but I havent found anything wrong with it?

Does anyone know why my picture is upside down?

Shinigami_[R.I.P.]
02-19-2003, 05:53 AM
It's a filter/codec problem but I forgot the details. PM El_Jefe as he seems to know alot about his stuff or search for it on vcdhelp.com. I sorta knew of that problem thats why I tried to encode it first with TMPGenc.

DWC

Try a different codec pack

Searched vcdhelp.com but didnt find anything

guys i wont go right in to it as it is much esyer if u just have a little fiddle around your self but here sre a few guide lines

1 never use nero to encode just to burn the mpeg to cd

2 use tmpeg to encode

3 easyist way if your new to tmpeg is to open your avi, check the framerate at the bottom and then press the load botton and chosse a vcd template with all the settings don 4 u by tmpg

4 29 fps use ntsc
25fps use pal
23 or any thingelse use ntsc film
5 then when your used to it u can make your own temp for like fitin 1 movie on 1 cd
6 to save sync probs use vurdub to uncommpress the audio

freak
02-19-2003, 10:59 AM
ok i got tmpeg and decided to test it but why does it take so long to encode it it says it has like 11hrs thats a long time????? im still doing it now is it always like this or does my computer just really suck?

DARKSHADOW

freak!

it goes by time not size
ive got

1.3 cpu
512mb
win xp
and on highest qual settin it takes me 4-6hrs for a full movie

ps make sure u have the framerate correct between the movie and the vcd u r makin and the aspect ratio is set correctly

I wish...............
Tried it 3 times a few weeks ago, and always at the end: "errror"
It made me furious so i stopped trying.
Now i downloaded VCD Easy (someone else mentioned that in another thread) but havent tried it yet.
Do you know that programm, and is it as good as Nero (at least, as good as Nero 'should' be)
I must burn some movies, my HD is getting full.
To the Dutch:
Weet iemand een goede Nederlandse site waar het stap voor stap staat uitgelegd?

Yes, it can take all night to decode a file, depending on the format. It may seem like a huge hassle, but considering the movie is free, you can't complain. VCD/SVCD burning has gotten alot easier over the past few years, mainly because of better quality rips.

However, with the advent of divx and xvid codecs, there are alot of 700mb files on kazaa, that cannot be simply burned to disk, as I'm sure you'll see if you experiment long enough.

If you want high quality rips, I suggest you start spending time at vcdhelp.com.... the tutorials are excellent, and all the questions that need answering are there. I went from newbie, to VCD junkie, to SVCD master, to DVD mastering and ripping, and I did it all with the help of that website.

Get yourself a cup of coffee, don't look for the easy way out, and put in the time to research it. It won't be long before you are burning lots of cool movies from the web, and watching them on your big screen tv at home, in full dolby digital surround sound.--

cd -rw are very similar to commercialy available cds so no need for twin lasers to read then unlike cd-rs.
