I would love to see Kazaa have more files being shared.

I am sure that many of us, whilst not leeches, are not sharing all the files we have.

I know I don't, but if we each shared say an extra 100 files would't that be great !

It would be neat to see the number of files being shared increase from 400/600 million (as it is now) to 1,000 million.

I'm going to do it right now !

Lets all give it a go !

Digby.

I share my files and I also share the files I donwload..no matter music or videos or other files. But what's really annoying is, that the user amount declines quickly...
A few month ago there were more than 4 million users, now I see maximum 3,2 million.. At this time earlier there were more than 4 million users may be 3 month ago and there were about 5,5 million gigabytes, now there are just 4,2..
That's not good..

Heh, who woulden't  People are leaving K-Lite for other P2P networks, many due to RIAAs' law suits.

BTW. i've read/heard somewhere that the copy-right laws are broken when copy-right content is redistributed for money without permision from the copy-right holder. This means that we, the P2P community, aren't braking thoes laws due the fact that we don't take fees for what we do. Am I correct ?

Good replies guys, thanks.

Comments

1 Those of you who share 0 or 4 files should be ashamed of yoursleves, play the game !

2 Yes I was hoping the numbers on Kazaa would grow from 4 to 5 or 6 million, but it does not seem to be happening.

3 As you say it may the the worry of RIAA lawsuits (which seems to have subsided)

4 Other than WinMX (which I used a year ago) which P2P has lots of files available ?

5 Perhaps the deserters will come back when they find other P2P's not so good.

Well...it also depends on the file size.

BearShare or BitTorrent for an example.

Hope so, but why are you asking ? This point (#5) is in oposition to what you have said in point #4.

BTW. I'm sharing 6,136 =) files, 11 GigaBytes

I'm shareing ~129 files... I keep them updated every week... And I make sure they are all valid and (if it's software) virus-free... :)

I think it's essential we share... Without a share no downloading...

If you're already keeping your upload bandwidth busy with the number of shared files you already have, then adding MORE shared files will just slow things down!
(This is because of all the busy messages that have to be sent out!)

However, if you almost never have an upload, then sharing more files would be helpful.

Above about 2,000 files, turn off listing of all your files unless you like multiple denial of service attacks when people try to list them all. Sending such long file lists can tie up a broadband connection for a minute or more -- or slow it down for much longer than that!

If you're sharing MP3s, hiding your shared file lists is as important as the ip blocker. RIAA sues for having 100's of MP3 files shared that they have copyrights to.

It's basically only movies that can get you in trouble even if you're sharing just one of them.

Nobody's gone to jail to my knowledge for file-sharing in the USA -- they're just being sued in civil courts and almost always settling out-of-court for about $2k to $20k. That's happened to fewer than 500 people total so far.

Though I have over 5000 mp3's i only share around 700 mp3's at a time but i share over 70 gigs in movies files. B) :smoke:

But I Also Share On 3 Diffrent P2P Nets.(So Different Mp3's on different nets.Totalling 1,347 MP3's&112 movies.)
