.bin Format?

i have seeing a series of .bin files ppl have been sharing. what kind of file is that? is it like zip files? can anyone explain what these files are and how they work? plus, if they're like zip files, can you please give me the software required to use extract it?

umm there just image files u simply just burn them with a program like nero...
