View Full Version : Crazy Low Temps

Hey I was just going to show yall my crazy low temps..to see what yall thought. If there right im VERY pleased.

http://www.sighost.us/members/bigdawgfoxx/asus_probe.jpg

Here is a pic. That is while listening to music on WMP9, on kazaalite, and chatting on AIM.

Most say that that is not the most accurate thing and to look at the bios, however I dont think thats very accurate because that has your CPU at like 0 load. When I look in the bios it says like 27-31. Is there anything else yall think would be more accurate?

Motherboard Monitor.

Last time im going to say it (probably not) the program is what ALOT of people use.

I'll take a screen shot right now and upload it in a sec f what mine looks like, so keep your eyes posted for a few.

Yes, motherboard monitor 5.

Configure it for a few mins and it will look nice and cozy on your desktop.

Here is mine.

Well I just like to have it nice and big, so i dont have to search the taskbar to see temps. That and it does just fine down there, and its big enough so I can keep an eye on everything.

what kind of cpu cooling do you guys do?

my shit is very hot, and i keep my case open all the time.

bigdawgfoxx

I have the stock AMD cooler and 4 case fans. One fan is angled toward my RAM and CPU. I think that might help a little.

Dawg,
Have you tried Folding@Home for a few hours yet?
The team would appreciate the help and it's the best way I can think of to get a good temp reading.
You need to run at 100% CPU for a while ( the longer the better, but at the very least 1 hour) to really know what's going on.
As your case temps stabilize and all the components get heatsoaked that's when you discover how good your cooling solution truly is.

What do you call full load?

Run Prime 95 for 8 hours, or loop 3dmark for several hours, and that will give you full load.

Are you kidding?

Most people would think they'd died and gone to heaven if their PCs idled under 40C.
As fun as it is, keep in mind that we are dealing with pretty extreme solutions here.
Most new computers only come with one or two fans and chug along, day in and day out at temps of 50C +.
Then the owner discovers a forum like this one or OC.com, sees some of the rigs in there, and the next thing you know they're thinking that they have a real problem.
Although I do believe that lower temps have to ultimately be a good thing, my search for waaaay lower temps is definately more of a hobby/challenge than a necessity.
Every time I get frustrated, I just think of my old eMachine ( currently my Mom's) which seems to be perfectly happy at 50-55 degrees, hasn't missed a beat yet and will probably outlast me.
I just realized that I expend more energy ( not to mention money!) taking care of my computer than I do taking care of myself.
Welcome to the New Millenium, Clocker...

Lol. I got it running at 2.04Ghz right now (185X11) and its at 31 as we speak lol

I love my cooling..i just got 4 case fans..but I got one of them angled right at the cpu...so it blows on it and then the exhaust fans suck it out. Sometime soon I am going to buy a 60mm to 80mm adapter and put a better fan on the cpu also.

I'm tending to agree with you, dawg.
I've been cruising some other forums looking at watercooled rigs and, considering the money spent and the added complexity, the big-time, high dollar setups are only posting temps 10-15% better than mine.
To get much lower you have to move up to phase-change (Peltier) or active refrigeration ( Promethius), which cost waaaay more.

The way to get the link to work, you have to select your result, and press "make public." Then select "view." After you have done these, you will be lead to the results. Copy the URL to the clipboard and save it to notepad. After you do this step, post it here.

Okay, after you run the benchmark, and you are connected to the internet, you select "submit." You will be then be redirected to your Aquamark sort of homepage. Then you will see all of the results you have submitted, with various names, such as "benchmark 2003--bla--bla." The most recent, I belive will be on top. You have options such as "compare" and "view," and "make public." Just select "view," or "make public (I think)." Then you will see your whole system spec as well as a detailed breakdown of your score.

That is what we are most interested in seeing.

Just play around with the buttons, dude; you will figure it out. ;)

then select the only option available to you

Damnnn. Now that ive overclocked the system the HS/F seem to be actually doing something lol. Before when I would feel the passive HS on the chipset and the HS on the CPU it would feel cool. Now that ive overclocked its putting off a pretty good amount of heat.
