Ok, I believe I have narrowed the problem down to drivers. After clean install of windows, I installed the factory drivers from the CD that came with the card. I am not aware of the driver version at the moment. Then I had the problems of playing video files (WMP/BSplayer crashing).

I fixed that problem with installing the drivers from NVIDIA's website. Now I can watch video files (.avi and .mpeg), but now when I enter a game, I get the same colour distorstion (as the post in hardwareworld [yes another gay vid card thread].)

I have posted pictures from GTA:Vice City and NFS Underground.

Look in Control Panel > Display > Settings Tab > Advanced

Work through them options and see what difference (if any) you can make.

Tell them exactly what happens, when, in what games, at what resolution, your driver versions, your card model, make and manufacturer... everything that you can tell them.

Oh yeah, the rest of your system specs.

There was an easy prog to find these and convert to an easy-read text file but I can't find it now. Sorry.

the card is great. but the prob here is caused by the user, not the card. call ur manufacturer

Try the latest ones there. You could also ask in their forum if they have seen the same issues your computer has.

Also check your card to see it it's too hot. Perhaps it doesn't have adequate cooling.

Judging by the appearence i would say its a hardware problem, its unlikley that software alone could cause that, it probably banks down to moniter or connection.

Also the 5200 is overrated if its DX9 support you want just get a higher card.

i have a 5200 and only had that when i oc'ed my card to far. is your card OC'ed at all? try the 45.XX drivers.

Just a stupid thought, But, What if you bought another video card, installed it and tried to play the games. If its software or hdd problems then the problems will contenue even with a new video card. If thats the case you know its NOT the card and you return it. Its stops you from wondering if its the card or not...

Personnell I thinks its the card or hdd, NOT software.. I had a 5200 that gave me a lot of problems in less than a month.

Good Luck ...

I had a 5200 b4 and it would Not work with my system. When I called nvedia they told me that sometimes some cards are not compatable with some systems...

this pc is a dell. When I called them they also said that card was not compatable with this system.. When I put the old gf2 card back in everthing works perfectly...

I still think its the card.... I would try a cheaper card.

This may not work for you, but I have just got a fx5200 and after installing different drivers it messed up and couldn't get most things to work so I went to device manager and un-installed the card, restarted to safe mode and installed drivers from nvidia.com and everything works fine now. :D
