is bittorent illeagal

SP1

No. BitTorrent is purely a protocol for file transfer, like FTP and HTTP. Unlike Kazaa it has no central database of files, or search capabilities.

The BitTorrent protocol can be used to transfer illegal files, but then so can FTP and HTTP. So if the bittorrent clients are illegal, so are Internet Explorer, Netscape etc.

The law is a strange thing.
The programs are not illegal ,sharing Copywrited programs and films is illegal From the veiw of the user and sharer.
You can buy and sell canabis seeds and plant them but if they grow its illegal.
You can grow magic mushrooms and pick them and eat them but if you put them in a paper bag and dry them its illegal.
All the best for the new year.

Bittorrent is not illegal

that said some of the activities that its used for are

However one of the many ways that its not illegeal is

big game patches e.g. Desert Combat .6 and .5 patches were on torrent and were easier and faster to get than the servers that they were orginally hosted on like fileplanet

Another way is is for linux ISO files

why spend 5 or 10 hours dling from a ftp when you can get it from BT in half the time

and fianlly there are many other Open Source programs that are on BT

I sure you know what the Leagal stuff is and what the Illeaglal stuff is.

BT itself is not Illegal

ok lemme get this straight, its legal to use BT, so is it possible to get caught? is it the safest downloading client out there compared to kazaa, emule, mirc, fast track, etc?

as is the present internet we communicate on if i am correct..

Bittorrent is no more illegal than the purpose of a mail box... it is a method of movement, WHAT YOU MOVE is what counts...

Think about it younglings it will make sence in time...

As for the growing of certian "thinking aids" etc.. . again all in the way it is used...

Yeah, you can get caught using Bit Torrent... if you have one of "THOSE" ISPs. But there are safety precautions like anything else. Try searching info on:

- Routers
- NATs
- VPNs (Virtual Private Netwoks)
- Firewalls, Anti-virus, anti-spyware programs
- Anonimous Proxies

You can set the used ports higher.
There's plenty you can do to feel better.
