Alot of times, with CPU's atleast its adding more volts to something, say the Ram, the NorthBridge, or the CPU, to make it more stable at higher frequencies.

I like that card more for the way it looks. It doesnt look all sloppy and stuff.

Does anyone know where I could buy some ram heatsinks?

Also, How do you get a big heatsink/fan to stay on your Video Card like that?

Yeah, thats an AIW 9700Pro. I dont play any graphicly extreme games really. All that would do for me would be to raise up my Benchmark scores, which are really already PLENTY high. That would take some time to do and also would put alot of stress on my card, which I dont use to its maximum capabilities as it is, so I dont see too much need to do that. I might be putting some ramsinks on it though to keep it cool though.

I dont see any ram heatsinks on either site yall listed.

I found some tight chrome plated ones here. (http://www.casecooler.com/cromplatramh.html) and I also found some other sites off google.

Yeah, water cooling makes since, but would also be more expensive. But would put WAY LESS stress on your card..

Spicker
01-03-2004, 02:39 AM
wc is not very expensive now dayz i saw a kit for 200$ CDN thts not even the price of a 9600pro or XT.... if i ever hav spare money (i never will) ill buy one :P

abu_has_the_power

wc would make the case:
1. quieter
2. looks cooler (with water die)
3. runs cooler

watercooling also has disadvantages tho:

assified n00b doesnt properly seal tubes. water bursts everywhere and fucks the boards

wc system is void of water (roflmfao at anyone who does this!)

wc system leaks (a hole in the copper or some mfg defect)

but for the majority of us, wc should do fine!
(my system which uses5700ultra is using peltier sinks, and i dragged it over 600mhz vpu clock)

What exactly are peltier sinks?

Do you just put the cold side on your GPU or CPU and then have the WC running on the hot side?

This is the first ive seen this...what would be the point? (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/moc-01.html)

peltiers is the street name for thermal electric cooling. electrons are transfered between the cpu or gpu and the heatsink. this requires an extra psu or a really good central psu. it's expensive and doesn't look as good as wc.

for wat? peltiers or wc? good peltiers cost lots of $, up to thousands. they can make ur cpu go below 0C! good wc system is bout $150-250. that's not too bad

Whats is this then?... (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/exp-01.html) Is that just a part of the cooling system. They say on the site that you can use wc with it so Im thinking that would be the same as the peltie kit..one side really cold with one side really hot, being cooled by WC.

that's part of the peltier system. u put that between the cpu and the waterblock.

lol. with good peltiers, i'd go up to 4.0 or maybe a bit higher. with wc, i'd go up to at least 4.0 if i had a better mobo and good ram

look at the tt peltier system they sell at newegg. it's not very good at all, and it's $100! a really good one could go up to thousands. i'd go with wc. looks cool with water die, and keeps case quiet and doesn't need an extra power outlet. and it's cheaper!. lol. i don't need a cpu running at 0C. i'm not gonna oc that much. ;) ;) :D

Pelts have been out for alittle while now, and you still need a complete watercooling system to use a peltier, so the prices arnt going to drop for that reason.

i made my own peltiers

not hard, just get a heatsink from coolermaster and connect two wires 2 it (one on each side) be careful tho cuz when it doesnt work (it wont) ur skrewd

Its fine, im getting a bit of blurryness when I zoom in on Halo, but alot of people have that.

I also had to go into safe mode, and reinstall drivers, after trying to overclock, and fiddle with the setts using rage 3d tweak. Damn card stopped responding.

I accidently downloaded 3rd Mark 2001Se, instead of 2003, so I couldnt run it, because 2001 is DX 8 only.

I need to get around to running aquamark sometime though.

Oh, and the most ANNOYING SCREECHING, coming from the fan I believe. Well, its not really a screeching, just the high pitch noise, intermittenly, needs some WD40 me thinks.

EDIT: Just ran Aquamark, and got around 24k. Not bothering to submit it, seeing as how I have 6 downloads going, F@H in the background, WMP, AIM, and 4 IE windows. I'll bench mark it for real some other tomorrow.

Not a problem, I'm sure.
His home-built nuclear reactor was made to stand up to abuse.

On a side note...I am almost finished with the planet I am building.
Any suggestions for the name and the orbit?

I'm just wondering how his power supply is doing after causing a short like that.
Not a problem, I'm sure.
His home-built nuclear reactor was made to stand up to abuse.

On a side note...I am almost finished with the planet I am building.
Any suggestions for the name and the orbit? [/b][/quote]
u mean my cold-fusion reactor

Show us some pics, and some benchies using the pelt.

Also Dawg, do you have DX 9 installed?

EDIT, 14 DOLLARS FOR 4 HEATSINKS, ARE YOU CRAZY?!?

On my AMDmb.com forum, a guy is selling some for 74 cents each, and their popular there too because of it.

here (http://www.svc.com/cobgarachhe.html) is a link for some copper ramsinks. These should cool the memory better than the aluminum variant.

I have been waiting for these for the past week or so even though I paid for the 2 day UPS shipping...the VGA silencer works great but the damn memory is too hot!

BTW, I am stoked VB is the moderator of this forum. It's great to have someone with as much knowledge as him to be watching what is said here ;) B) :) .
