Again, I am simple caveman who has no interest in the inner workings of this forum. I enjoy joking and arguing with its' members.

I was flamed on day 1, flames abounded back in March 2002. They abound today as well.

Why would someone like Lynx quit? I can't imagine that it was because he was told to STFU by some teenager.

Is there something afoot here that a simple man needs to understand? Is it related to the "administrators", if so how?

I am getting a little confused over all these "quittings", seems a bit of a melodrama to me.

If you ask me its a setup, close friend PM's a close friend who then PM's a close friend who PM's a close friend, all of them telling the other how bad things are and its time to quit to make change.

Meh its an uprising, a coup if you ask me.... Or I could be a completely paranoid scitso over-exagerating the situation, either case it all comes down to a conspiracy.

Your concerns are well warrented i guess hobbes.

Speaking for myself and one who has "left twice", i am beginning to understand my own feelings regarding these forums. Being of the elder generation it took me a while to understand, but its becoming clearer. Most young people here dont really know anything else, they spend a lot of time on the Internet, just surfing but mostly chatting or online games, downloading stuff etc. For them its real though, its as real as the world outside is. So when things happen here, thay are taken very seriously. So serious that fights and tensions build up very quickly. Much like they would outside in the real world if the same thing were to happen between workmates or buddies.

However, some of us "oldies", those of us who are still young at heart and want to be a part of this are still trying to grasp all this so when tensions rise, we react much the same way as we would i guess utside -except it aint quite the same and our enemies (for want of a better word) are faceless and voiceless. This amplifies the problem, so we react in the only way we know how - we leave.

Now, i have no idea why lynx is leaving and to be honest its his own problem and one he alone can explain or not. Also a lot of people are realising that "ah ha" there is a world outside k-lite and the hassles here are just not worth it compaired to whats being offered in the real world.

My advice is and one i am trying hard to achieve, is not to spend so much time here and not to take all at face value or so seriously. Life exists beyond this place and it aint worth your mental health believing otherwise.

Peace
UKMan

No, I want an answer, why all the melodrama. I think this forum and is a supplement to a normal persons social interaction.

A post does not go to the lounge because it wants to highjacked, but because it is not P2P related.

This post could also go into "about this forum", but this is where the heart of the forum lies.

BTW, for a rambler, I am rather succinct.

noname12

Meh, there must be a insult in there somewhere?

What answer do you think your gonna get, 50% will be that there all "Drama queens" the other 50% will come out with "It depends on each person, you'd have to ask them" Either they got offended and left or decided to see what colour the sky is. Nothing big really.

The post states, "is there something deeper going on here related to the administration that is causing people to leave"?

On the surface, flames and stupidity are stable, but the people who are leaving are rather mature members and those involved with producing a better k-lite program.

I want some insight into the unseen inner workings of this site.

J'Pol

You know as well as I do that some people are leaving because of the speed of change and the new agenda which seem to be appearing.

The forum is becoming much more professional and less "of the people". Anyone who felt that they had some sort of influence or that it was their board and a commune may start to feel dis-enfranchised and move on.

Those who saw it as more of a place where they visited to speak to friends, discuss stuff, get advice or generally just hang out doesn't really care about the internal machinations. As such they have no interest in whether the admin or mods take their suggestions, how many moderators there are, what type of server, whether there is a degree of commerciality. It is all just water off a ducks back.

It really is just down to how we perceived things a while back.

For others, they are simply jaded and need to move on. The board holds no more surprises and they need to go elsewhere. I wish them well and trust that they find what they are looking for.

There are others, but I think this covers the majority of things just now.

hobbes

@Ukman,

The ramblings of the idiots roll off me like water off a ducks back. I just ignore them, why can't others do the same?

This forum is exclusively a luxury. A place for fun. I don't take it very seriosly.

One of the things which does get my hackles up is when Mods interfere with the flow of the forum and censor the content. Mods should protect us from others promoting their own sites and trolls attempting to disrupt, and otherwise STFU.

edit: When I typed this post, JPol's thread was not present, we apparently enjoy the same cliches.

Just look at the evidence, the wave of "old members" leaving is to much to be coincidence, theres something more devious going on here, something very suspicious indeed.

Good thing I took those KGB lessons. I'm telling you some members are staging a coup. Just like when they tried to over-throw lamsey.

Thank you sir, I appreciate the courtesy.

Perhaps you have confused some of the chaps with your similies tho' . It is traditional to use one fewer vowels. Given that there is only on e in the word, I tend to omit an i. Even when pluralising.

As you told me before, we must accept that language is evolving. Just like ignoring the subjunctive mood, in the future, as language evolves, we will pointlessly deviate from acceptable grammar simply because of ignorance and throw "i"s around, as we please.
