That has to be by far the worst movie of all time, maybe not the worst, but it was up there.

(My choice?.....an oldie but a goodie, circa 1951....)

Ok, I know most of you probably won't relate or never even heard of one of my top choices.....humor me....

>>>"The Thing" (from another world)

...No! NOT the Kurt Russell knockoff...but the original one from the early 50's.
**has my most chilling scene from a horror movie:
The small crew has just landed their DC-3 somewhere in the arctic polar region by following magnetic interference from "something with supersonic speed that was tracked as it entered the earth's atmosphere and crashed there recently". They find the location where the "object" had landed and melted into the ice. It's barely visible through the ice. Someone suggests they spread out to the edge of the object to "determine its size and shape". As they slowly move out from the center the scary music builds and they all stop and slowly turn to face one another. They see they have all formed in the shape of a ....."circle, a perfect circle". "We finally got one, we finally got ourselves a flying saucer".

After unintentionally destroying the ship with Thermite bombs (supposed to only "melt" the ice around the object) someone notices another shadow under the ice...."it's some kind of a being, a thing"...they dig it up in a block of ice, take it back to their polar base...it thaws....the fun begins. Very Scary!! (however, admittedly tame by today's standards).

Last line in the movie....Reporter Ned Scott on the radio talking to a roomfull of reporters back in the states...
"Watch the skies, everywhere! Keep looking. Keep watching the skies!"

Other choices:

Alien :alien:
The Exorcist :x  :x
The Shining :fear2:
(from here it's all down hill....lol)

the thing is great.
night of the living dead is great!.
demons is classic!
texas chainsaw massacre is wonderful!
jaws, psycho and the shining are great!
henry: portrait of a serial killer is great.
the hitcher, dead alive and alien are agreat as well.
and actually, mrlessk, the short story of 'the thing' is even better than the original movie!

as far as books go:
i liked 'IT'
pennywise the clown.
they should redo the movie!

Sometimes I try to be nice but alot of people on this thread are a waste of genes. You know who you are, I think Im going go away now and laugh in a corner about people liking remakes.

THEY SHOULD REMAKE STEPHEN KINGS "IT" BECAUSE THE 1st ONE IS AN EXCREMENTICIOUS PEACE OF DEFICATION!!!! i dont care if you lamo buff attitude but the 1st t.v. movie is ridiculous...and if someone would make that move in all its glory, it could be one of , if not the, scariest movie of all time...srry undead but if you are so uptight about the word 'remake' when it comes to movies because you such a big movie buff...then in this particular case can we use the word 'ploof'...so i think they should ploof 'it'. i agree about remakes and i cant think of one that is better than the original (though its to be argued about nosferatu and dracula) BUT...the should ploof sk's 'it' because we as an audience are being robbed of a great horror story in an age where there is very very very very very little good horror.

its too bad that all you read is the word 'remake' and a wall in your mind formed to protect you from the studios of hollywood blind you from anything. i agree. down with the studios and all thier 'remakes' . but i think in the instance of 'it' they already made the remake way before they ever made the original. maybe that why you are so confused. i simply want them to make the movie 'it' . they tried. it was crap. worse than most if not all kings made for t.v. remakes. and they are bad. but. undead. read the book. i dare you. read it...until the end. and tell me you are satisfied with the current um...whats the word...there got to be a better word than movie...oh well, for lack of a better word, ...movie.

Don't know, maybe some Stephen King, maybe Hitchcocks, Ghost Ship
was a little horrable but funny in some ways... and uuhhh...

THE DUDE
01-09-2004, 05:17 AM
Hitchcocks films still creep me out.

The Exorcist, "your mother sucks cocks in Hell" best quote ever.

The Blair Witch Project (it was scary the 1st time is saw it but it's only scary that one time).

Interview with a Vampire (don't know if it counts as horror, I think of it as sci-fi/fantasy).

Bram Stokers Dracula (Coppola version).

I used to like the Amityville Horror because it was based on a true story even if the effects are dated.

Hellraiser the 1st one was brilliant talk about skin crawling the next two seemed like they were gore for the sake of gore.

All three Evil Deads are great, but except for part 1 ED2 and AOD I would never consider horror movies. I do agree with you on one thing though, Evil Dead 2 is most deffinity my favorite movie of all time.

Movies I do consider great horror movies though are
Evil Dead part 1.
The House of Wax
The Children of the Corn (movie scared the :shit: ouf of me when I was a kid)
The Thing
The Night of the Living Dead (Both the 50's and 90's versions)
28 Days Later
Stephen King's The Stand (Mini-Series)
Dawn of the Dead
Freddy V/s Jason (Although it was very (very) close to being action instead of Horror)
Resident Evil
Halloween 1, 2 & H20
The House on Haunted Hill (Both new and old versions)

One of my favourites has to be My Little Eye. Has anyone else seen it?

Low budget film, the plot is like the TV show Big Brother but it's scary as hell.

Won't give the game away for people who haven't seen it.

DOWNLOAD IT NOW ALL OF YOU!!
