For information on creating and encoding VCD's you can check here:

Edit: vcdhelp and svcdhelp appear to be offline, although I was using them just the other day. Hope it's just temporary.

basically, you can burn .mpg movies, but they are usually not freely available on Kazaa. Nero has a self convertor thing for doing .avi's but I don't trust it, so I usually just set my PC up with a huge batch encode, and leave it converting, as it's downloading, overnight. Then burn away.

Oh yeah, you do know you can make your own template to use in TMPGENC, with all your favorite settings on, to make itt easier than setting it all up, etc?

Vcdhelp is now located at: http://www.dvdrhelp.com

Don't let the new name fool you. It's still a very informative site for creating VCD's.

If you burn an .avi with Nero, it will encode the .avi so you still have to encode the file. I don't trust the encoding with Nero either so I use TMPGenc. Also, the settings in your encoder can and will affect encoding speeds.
