Lap Vs Desk - Same Spec Diff. Performace

OK, If you take two similair machines spec wise, but one is a laptop and one is a desktop, why does the desktop always easily outperform the laptop.

I know the hardware will never be identical, but I used to have a P3 700mhz laptop 256 RAM vs a AMD k62 500mhz 256 RAM and the Desktop kicked the laptop!

I doubt he benched them...Prob just from usuing the computer. Maybe all the laptops you have been on were cluttered with junk. Format both of them with the same stuff, THEN see which one is faster. I have also had the same experiance kind of tho..with desktops being faster then laptops..

I don't know guys, but I know for sure that you can actually find laptops of equal quality to desktops out there; they will just cost you a hell of a lot more.

wouldnt the cpu on a laptop be slower than the one on desktop?....would a intel centrino be the same as a p4? and what about rams....
