okay, i want to thank bigdawg and dwk and muchspl2 for their help and tips on that other thread that i made about what computer i should buy (which later turned into what parts i should buy to build it)

i'm going to scrap that idea and put it on hold for now. right now, i just need a damn good cheap video card that has 100% support/compatibility for directx9.0 and opengl2.0 and preferebly 128 mb. any suggestions? my limit is 220 bucks canadian (yes, it must be under 220 with taxes included). i heard that the 9200se is good, i frankly don't have the money for 9700 pro (unless someone can direct me to a canadian site that does have it, or a site that ships to canada). any feedback would be greatly apperciated. thanks. ps, agp4x only, i know it's cutting it down, but i'm not even sure my old ass mobo supports agp4x. i'll check it in the morning and post back here and tell you if it does (i'm worried right now that all it supports is pci cards :o <_< :(   ). can anyone kindly tell me what kind of card a nvidia geforce2 mx 100/200 32 mb video card is (pci or agp)?? that would clear things up even more. i'm well aware that my comp would turn into a bottleneck (384 mb ram and a 1.2 ghz amd athon) if i got a 128 mb v/c.

Which province are you living in? That'll certainly affect your tax rate, which is terribly unfortunate. Unless you live in Alberta, in which case, I'm jealous.

$220 Canada is under $200 USD I believe. Which would still be enough for a 5900Se or 5900..but he cant find any stores that deliever to Canada. And I'm sure there prices will be higher then what we've been telling him.

okay, so is the 9500 any good? i heard a while back if you o/c, it could be as good as the 9700 :o , don't know if that's true. btw, i'm in b.c. (14.5% tax :(   ). ya, i think ebay is probably my best shot. in your opinion guys, what's better for price, a geforce or radeon? i'm thinking about the 9500 and the 9700 (220 bucks isn't bad, i can save up to that in about a week). i just need something with direct x9.0 and opengl 2.0 capabilities (need it for upcoming games, duh, doom3 and half life2 in particular). i'll check out that alberta site, btw, how much tax do you have to pay in alberta?

ya, i'm in vancouver, sorta, i'm actually in surrey/delta area (but i won't tell you where exactly, michael jackson could be on this board <_< :fear: ). 14.5% tax    . i tried futureshop, way to damn expensive, i think that the small stores that only specialize in computer/parts (futureshop is more of an electronic store) are cheaper. btw, I DIDN'T BUY THE CARD YET (after looking around i found it for 20 bucks cheaper). i've already ordered all the parts i need for the new comp, i just need the v/c and a good psu. ntcw? i'll give it a shot, any tips on where to find it in vancouver (i'm guessing east broadway?)? thanks guys.

btw, jaigandhi5, i feel sorry for ya, ouch! (it's only .5% difference, but ouch still!)

You won't find cheap computer parts in BC. You can thank the taxes for that. It'd probably be cheaper to order directly from the States. ;)

If you want to rip some VHS tapes: Pinnacle PCTV Rave is a good card. It just costs 49 or 59 Euro (aroung 50 Dollars!) and won some Emmy Awards as shown on the package.

As I had no experience with Video Cards, I looked out for the one with the best recommendations on amazon.com.

The Video Card also supports Satellite Receiver, Antenna, or Cable for TV. The Pro Version also has Radio Receiver support.

However, we are looking out for cards which are good with games, which this card is not
