View Full Version : Tip On Writing Posts!

I don't mean to sound like a tool or a teacher but it is all too common nowadays for people to write on internet posts USING THEIR OWN INTERNET language. I know most people are too lazy to correctly grammaticize a sentence or paragraph but it is so important you do so! I cannot count the number of posts I have read in my years on my boards and more and more people don't make any sense in what they are trying to convey to the readers, and it is incredibly ANNOYING! If you are explaining something or helping a fellow board member then try to speak the english language and not use some internet lingo or your AIM slang that so many like to do. It would help us all..

Yeah and not to mention that by practicing good grammar on the net, we'll be performing good grammar elsewhere.

Ok, but only if you first start writing your name with only one capital letter and that the first letter is a capital letter.

And what is it with newbies and their first post? Do all of them have to complain the first thing they do? Can't they wait a month first? :D

Um you made no sense to me random nut, and I thought you were someone on this board to be respected.. Guess not..

This wasn't a complaint, it was a tip..And who gives a shit if I am a "NEWBIE" to this board, if it wasn't for "NEWBIES" you would never have this board, because we all start somewhere!

People on forums always amaze me! A person's ego seems to be so highly correlated with your "post count." I could go on, but I have better things to do.

A guy who gives "tips" and can't take it when other people give tips to himself. You don't like people who don't write grammatically correct english sentences, yet you don't even spell your name Sinister. You spell it SiNiSteR. Spelling your name like that is OK to you, but not writing ppl instead of people.

Why is important to have proper grammar when writing post anyway. All to often people want to put you in there little box and want you to do thing the correct way. The world is diverse and so is grammar. ;)

its important because its about courtesy to anyone who read your posts. especially when asking for help or for questions its important to state your problem clearly and readable so whoever reading your post can understand you.

if you don't like to use proper grammar or like using the "cool" text messages instead of proper english then don't be surprised when noone answers your questions!

Ok, here goes..last time I reply because I wanted to see rn's reply..Just a question rn, would it be better if I made my name sinister, lowercases like you so I can be cool? Please! You're an idiot! My name is spelled correctly, what is your damn point, because mine was that people need to at least make their sentences intelligible! Damn I am amazed at your nonsense..

edit: nevermind my last sentence made sense..

I never said lowercase was "cool", or is that "k3wl"?

And calling other people names, like you do, isn't very k3wl either. It just shows that you have nothing better to say that you must resort to childish name calling.

You need to lighten up, or go someplace else. Seems like this board isn't for you. So bye, we won't miss you. :D

Just to let you know, after this thread you started everyone will check your grammar each time you post. See if you can find any mistakes I made. I couldn't care less if you find any mistakes as English isn't my native language.

ComputerFreak76,
You just said it all. Writing in a shit like manner and expecting a well-written answer is too much. To me it just shows a sign of laziness. RN, your point made no sense at all. His name is supposed to be mixed with capital letters and lower case letters, its not a question of grammar.

If he has trouble reading people's badly written english sentences then I'm sure others have trouble reading mixed case words, like his name.

edit: added an '

Ok, well now people are getting carried away. What Sinister meant was he was tired of people writing sentences like "hey r u there?", or "kewl" and I'm sure you could think of many other quick abbreviations.
He wasn't talking about minor MISTAKES such as forgetting a comma, or an apostrophe. So really people who keep correcting his punctuation are wasting their time because it was merely a mistake and not purposely written.

Who cares if you don't write 100% correct english sentences. This is a forum, not a newspaper for crying out loud. Let them write ppl instead of people if they want to. I don't want some wannabe commie coming here telling people what they can and can't write. I have no problem reading ppl, k3wl, or whatever some people prefer to write. I don't write that myself, but I understand what it means and have no trouble reading it.

Some people mind others don't. I think Sinister shouldn't have come in this board and have his first post be a complaint. Perhaps he should have waited a while and he wouldn't receive so much criticism because what he said is not worth 3 pages for a thread.

That's what I said in my first reply. I've seen many newbies (not all, but many) who after a couple of posts start a thread like this to provoke people into replying so that it becomes a thread with lots of replies. I'm tired of that.

And I agree, this thread doesn't deserve three pages, and in fact, it doesn't deserve to be a thread at all. I vote it should be removed, and thrown into outer space.
