Suggestions Please

I am sure you already noticed the Private Forum here and now it's time to clear things up ;)

The private forums are beta forums for a new 100 % legal filesharing client. We use it to do beta testing and to talk about features and related discussions. It is a private forum because we don't want 10000 sugestions at once until the first version is out.

A lot of old and new developers are working on a rock solid client and we will release a few screenshots soon.

Now back to the topic

We are currently looking for a cool name for this client. If possible the name should contain the word swap. (if you have a better suggestion post it)

If you have a great idea and we pick it then your name will be added to the credits dialog.

Rules:

-The name must be available as domain name (.com)
-Only serious names and no copies like Swapster, Swapzaa etc

Please only post serious replies and spamming is a no too.

No I didn't post in the wrong section. The lounge is well visited and will give the best results.

So you want name suggestions for this new network client?

What network will it use or is it a completely new network we are talking about?


I think that the name of a client is extremely important and the name of a client can make or break it sort of speak. There is no coincidence that the most popular clients for the respective network all have cool powerfull names. Kazaa for instance sounds like something asian powerfull expression you could use in martial arts or when doing magic tricks it is a cool word. The most popular Gnutella clients are named Morpheus,LimeWire and Shareaza all cool names.

So what should this new client be named. You want it to be a cool name. It should sound very powerfull and be something thet grabs you when saying it.

You want it to contain the word Swap as in users sharing files between eachother&#33;.

here is a suggestion that I think sounds cool and are quite powerfull expression.

I thaught what is a user doing when connection to and using a P2P application?

In Pursuit of files ofcourse the word Pursuite is a cool powerfull word that makes you think of stuff like car chases,Police, etc

So since users are in Pursuit of files and are swapping them between eachoter how about the word:

SwapPursuit

As in beeing in hunt for files and swapping them&#33;

It wil support multiple networks once completed. The client will also contain functions to start an own network.

I can&#39;t give too much details for now since we did not decide which ones yet

Please don&#39;t ask much about details because if I start to answer it will just delay the process of coding it :)

I just say that it will be free for spyware / adware and it will be friendly to newcomers.

In terms of sharing the client, there&#39;s nothing worth sharing right now.

The only clients that had been released to the beta-testing team have been barebone so far. 7th is currently interested in getting the fundamental things right first time round before getting the other features in.

Give it time - It&#39;ll be released soon enough. And more importantly of all, when it&#39;s in a ready & stable state for everyone to use :)

We should concentrate on a simple but catchy name. The word swap is only a suggestion but we are open for suggestions.

Hey guys - and you, too, 7th Element - it is nice and interesting that you try to develop something, but for the moment K++ is the best legal client you can get - the client itself is LEGAL - it depends what everyone is sharing.

The client offer you possibility to share thoughts & files like a phone for example, but better. You also cannot say when using a phone for illegal calls, that the phone itself is illegal. It is a useful tool and whether it is legal or illegal it depends on what you are sharing.

If you mean in "developing a 100% legal client" something what acts similar to
K++ and connects to Fasttrack and you would own the Opensoiurce code then it
would make sense to me as well. It would be useful, to develop a client
with following advantages:

- connecting to Fasttrack,
- a small -below ~800KB like Audiogalaxy client,
- &#39;BUT workingdecentralized like K++ with ability of small fasts Supernodes & Users,
- => If you manage to do this another advantage would emerge for the future:
the KL Board Community would own the Source Code and everyone could
help making it better.

To the name:

I think the current name "Kazaa Lite K++" is the best and while Kazaa stands for russian female goat (milking means getting files), I mean the current name
has an origin. Ok, but if the new client would be smalle and faster you could name
it in a way that indicates K++. Like:

K++ Fast
KLB K++ Client
K-Lite Board Client
K++ 2nd Fasttrack Client
K++ XtraSmall
K++ Small
K++ XS
KLB FTrack XSmall
KLB FTXS
KLB FTTXS
KLB K++++ ;)
KL Board K++ (FT) Client

Since they said that they decided for a name shortly after NotoriousBIC and uncle cracker made suggestions. I think it is either NitroSwap, Swapreactor,SwapFusion, or SwapZilla ;)

as in "The gate which enables users to swap files" :)

Reasons are: domain was available, name is easy to remember, no spelling problems if people talk about it and so on.

No ETA set for a release yet but we are working hard.
